il Ripasso is one of the finest restaurants in Livingston, serving some of the freshest Italian dishes. One of the things that I find most admirable is that the restaurant doesn't try to be all things to all people, and, for the most part, it maintains the same tried-and-true dishes that have the same exceptional tastes every time. This allows the owners to control the quality of the dishes, every one prepared to perfection.
It's hard to find a BYOB, table clothed, somewhat romantic and reasonably priced Italian restaurant in the area. It is pretty intimate and tables are lit with candles. The menu has a good variety of typical Italian fare and the daily specials add some additional flavors. The veal chop special was excellent and a pasta dish was cooked al dente the way it should be. We had dinner there recently with a group of friends. The service was pretty good. However the food was just so so. Also when we walked in, there was strong smell of bleach. It was not pleasant.
