We had a wonderful experience at Rooney's Oceanfront Restaurant in Long Branch. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the oceanfront setting made it the perfect place to celebrate my son's 20th birthday. Our waitress Christine was amazing, attentive and friendly. Everything was just right. Highly recommend! Doris & Laz Rodriguez

This pains me to write this. Rooney's is one of our favorite restaurants. I have hosted birthday parties, repasts, and many out of town guests there because of the food, service and atmosphere. But we were there for my birthday Tuesday night and we were enjoying our entrees when they sat a dog at an adjoining table. My wife is deathly afraid of dogs after being bitten by one and I could feel the tension in her immediately. It was obviously not a service dog, but rather a comfort and therapy animal, if it was that. Service animals are vested; do not engage other people, sit quietly next to their human, don't get petted or fed. I previously have worked in a retail establishment that assisted in the training of service dogs, and have some experience in this. This dog got up as the server brought each drink and course to the table, was pet and I believe fed treats or table scraps and the server even got a bowl of water from what looked like a restaurant dish. The ADA and the state of NJ law recognize C & T animals as therapeutic but they are not trained to perform a specific task and therefore are not required to be admitted by owners of public accommodations. You can be fined in NJ for falsely passing your dog off as a service animal. We called the manager to our table and he couldn't have been nicer, offering to move our table and even put someone in the dining room to keep an eye on the animal. He stated that they were not allowed to ask any questions about service animals but we have become so afraid of offending anyone or getting sued that we have allowed people who abuse the rights of others to get away with things that they shouldn't. There should be some sort of training to make the staff aware of what a true service dog is and not be afraid to offer a table outside to patron who bring pets with them. Rooneys is a premium restaurant and not inexpensive and I feel that we should have rights as well.

There is no place to compare to Rooneys in Long Branch, NJ - always a great meal, perfectly made drinks and the staff is professional and kind. The atmosphere is like no other restaurant on the Jersey Shore and a parking lot is a plus!

Overall it's a 7 out of 10 for food. Location, views, ambiance 10 out of 10. Not sure if would go back again, as some items wanted were not available, food was good but not great , nothing to rave about. Service was spot on.

The food was very good and loved the atmosphere, my only flaw was the staff I felt didn't have much knowledge of the menu, they had no suggestions for me when it came to dinner and had to read off the menu just felt like a place like that you should be able sell me on something.

Yesterday's birthday lunch at Rooney's Oceanfront Restaurant in Long Branch was next-level. Service MVPs: Jessica absolutely ran the show—spot-on menu tips, refills before we even noticed we needed them, and pure positive energy start to finish. James floated by to check on us, making sure everything stayed flawless. Teamwork makes the dream work. 🙌🏽 Food goals achieved: Dancing Shrimp that practically moon-walked off the plate— juicy, and gone in seconds. French Onion Soup with a cheese blanket thick enough to file taxes. Red Snapper—crispy skin, silky inside, bright citrus pop. Truffle Fries exactly how they're supposed to be: crispy, fragrant, never soggy. Greens & Grains Salad (quinoa, farro, roasted squash, goat cheese, cranberries, walnuts, pepitas, carrot hummus, lemon-tarragon vinaigrette) that made “eating healthy” feel like a flex. Toast tally: 🥂 Glacier-cold champagne for the celebratory clink. 🥃 Silky pours of Johnnie Walker Blue to close out the night like bosses. Massive thank-you to Jessica, James, and the entire Rooney's crew for turning a simple dinner into an unforgettable birthday celebration. Full hearts, happy taste buds—see you again soon! 💙

It was a beautiful evening and Kate, our server was knowledgeable, personable, and had great insights and information for special dietary restrictions of some of the people in our party. Kudos to her! The bartender went and actually found the bottle of Prosecco we were looking for: thank you! The food was prepared perfectly. Daryl, the owner/manager stopped by to personally check on our enjoyment of the evening! Thank you for a truly lovely evening! One of our favorites!

Great view food and service.

We were looking for a nice place to eat for our 41st anniversary and chose Rooneys based on location and ambiance. The food and views were fantastic! Had the tuna bruschetta and seafood cocktail for appetizers, very tasty! I had the mahi mahi broiled with mashed potatoes and asparagus. She had the tuna and carrots, also very tasty. The dessert was gelato in a hard shell chocolate bowl, with caramel drizzle. Good portions were served and we were not rushed. Definitely worth the hour drive and will plan to return!

LOVE LOVE LOVED Rooney's Came to Long Branch for a girls weekend. Made a reservation for Sunday Brunch through Open Table. The restaurant contacted me to inform me that brunch was unfortunately done for the season and wanted to confirm I wanted to keep my reservation. Their transparency was refreshing and appreciated. We went to check out the restaurant Saturday night and ended up staying for dinner. The food, service and atmosphere was 5 stars. We kept our Sunday reservation as well and were equally impressed. Bravo, Rooney's!

Dinned here for my birthday wasn't pleased with seating. They were under construction so the outside dinning was blocked we were sat in the main room it was a decent setting took some pictures. Definitely look at the menu before since its pricy the overall food was a 6/10. I would have rather went somewhere else. Wished they put they were under construction on their site....
