Cornbread in Maplewood will forever have a special place in my heart. The restaurant provided space for my family to gather after my father’s funeral. The establishment allowed us to push tables together and make a commotion as we celebrated the life of our loved one. Shout out to Didi, our server who was very patient with our large party and numerous orders. When the kitchen ran out of yams, Louie (owner) personally made sure that more would be prepared for us. Cornbread allowed us to play a slideshow with photos of our family as we ate. When I thanked him for taking care of my family, he assured me that we were all family at the restaurant. We were told we would be welcomed again anytime.
In addition to the kindness of the employees and staff, the food was absolutely delicious. It is cooked with love and southern soul. It is by far the best Soulfood restaurant in Maplewood, and one of the best dining establishments in general. I will always be going back when I am in the area for good food and a place where I know I will be appreciated as a customer and family member.

This was our first time here at Cornbread and let’s just say we Will indeed be coming back!!!! Greeted as soon as we walked in and not with a cold hello. The food was worth the wait!! Fried chicken was freshly fried! Who doesn’t want that?! We drove to the Maplewood location from Newark and we will be doing it again!!! Thank you for the amazing food and amazing service. The owner was there taking care of incoming customers, big shout out to him and his amazing team!

I honestly enjoyed everything and I ate a little of everything on the menu except the bbq pork ribs , which is most likely amazing as well. I will be back soon and I definitely will recommend !!! Great job to the owner who is behind the counter greeting and helping as well !! Love to come to places like this and have an all out good time .
