St James Gate has been around for a while in Maplewood Village, but their menu has stayed the same - typical Irish pub food. Sadly their service isn't what it used to be and neither is the food. My burger arrived undercooked and then it took another 25 minutes for another burger. They are also very loud, more of a pick up place than a restaurant. Not returning.
LOGAN IS AMAZING!!!!! He made all of our drinks to PERFECTION!!!!
Our son recently moved to Maplewood to commute into Manhattan. While visiting him we walked to the center town of Maplewood. It is quaint with a little of everything people need for types of food, groceries, coffee, haircuts, etc. We stopped at this pub for a bite of food and a beer. There is seating outside and inside. We just had some appetizers. It looks like a place to hang out with friends and has a warm welcoming feeling.

It was my first time dining at St. James yesterday and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy bar for a quick bite in the area. The service was phenomenal and the food was amazing. I’d definitely visit again soon!

Went for a quick bite while in the area, and as an absolute Guinness Fanatic, I couldn’t pass up the chance to sample their pints of plain.
I was incredibly surprised, and would have to say that this is the best pint of Guinness in New Jersey that I’ve come across so far.
I would only be able to knock points off for their glass hygiene— as it was a bit cloudy, but that is often a knitpick reserved for the elite Guinness pubs in the world.
The food was above average. Cheese sauce that came with the pretzel appetizer was tasty tho a bit watery. Burgers were cooked well and portions were more than adequate.
Decor and ambience was fantastic and pints were poured well.

Ordered food to go. It was okay. Short rib sandwich on the dry side. Seemed like a big hunk of meat that needs the au jus ti make it edible. The wings were better imo. Might be better in person.
Parking: Can be difficult during peak hours

Decided to grab lunch while walking through Banff. This place was great…the food was good and the service was fast. Definitely worth trying.
