It was my first time dining at St. James yesterday and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy bar for a quick bite in the area. The service was phenomenal and the food was amazing. I’d definitely visit again soon!

Food-addictive shoestring fries, cod sandwich was fresh and the burgers were good
Drink prices keep the food prices down
Atmosphere- fireplace never goes out, dim lighting, nice refuge from the street

Went for a quick bite while in the area, and as an absolute Guinness Fanatic, I couldn’t pass up the chance to sample their pints of plain.

I was incredibly surprised, and would have to say that this is the best pint of Guinness in New Jersey that I’ve come across so far.

I would only be able to knock points off for their glass hygiene— as it was a bit cloudy, but that is often a knitpick reserved for the elite Guinness pubs in the world.

The food was above average. Cheese sauce that came with the pretzel appetizer was tasty tho a bit watery. Burgers were cooked well and portions were more than adequate.

Decor and ambience was fantastic and pints were poured well.

Ordered food to go. It was okay. Short rib sandwich on the dry side. Seemed like a big hunk of meat that needs the au jus ti make it edible. The wings were better imo. Might be better in person.

Parking: Can be difficult during peak hours

One of the best Irish pubs in New Jersey, but only one problem: no brass foot rail. Worth the trip; we'll definitely be back.

Great pub feel. I hadn’t been here in about 4 years. Downward slide. Food was heavily salted and dried out. I was disappointed in my Irish breakfast, just salty and dry. My husband had a shepherds pie that was equally salty. Had to flag down server for drinks and cutlery. Maybe it was a bad day. Used to be a great spot.
