This is a great place to go if you want great food, excellent service and you can hear your guests talk. The bar downstairs was crowded but the room next to the bar on the first floor was relatively quiet. I had the special of the day: scallops, lobster orzo, oysters' appetizer (6) and a glass of white wine. A very enjoyable evening.

Cocktails and appetizers were very good. Two entrees were very disappointing. Chicken Kabobs were overcooked and dry. Seafood special was supposed to be a light tomato sauce and was a heavy heavy sauce at best with a small piece of fish, 4 shrimp and a bunch of potatoes that were overdone and tasteless. Too bad, usually have a good food experience here.

Valentina was our wonderful server. We asked her if the music could be lowered a bit, and she took care of that immediately. We had a lovely dinner.

Let me start by giving credit where it’s due: the food was pretty good and the restaurant is lovely. But none of that matters because the service was such a disaster that I won’t be back-ever. I run a woman’s social group that goes out weekly and this time five of us decided to try Sofia’s. I did what I always do:told the server ahead of time that we’d be splitting checks. Apparently, that was asking too much, because he immediately refused. When I added that I wanted the appetizers on my own tab, he actually said, “ Why don’t you worry about the food now and worry about money later.” Ah yes, nothing like being scolded for trying to pay at a restaurant. Bold business model. But fine-let that one slide. The appetizers arrived, and I politely asked the waiter (Kenny) who brought them out to take a quick picture for us. This is not only a shout out for my group but also highlights the restaurant. He hit me with an immediate “no”, dramatically rolled his eyes and then marched over to the bar to complain about us to two other customers. You could be serving a Michelin level meal (spoiler: you aren’t) and we still would never come back. The service was that spectacularly rude. I do need to mention the younger, very sweet server (bus boy?) who did take a picture of us. He was all smiles and quite respectful.

As usual, everything from the drinks to the hummus platter to our entrees (whole branzino and filet mignon) was exceptionally good. Our server, Vinny, was ok, but we kept having to raise our voices to get his attention.

Been to Sophias several time and was always very nice. This time not so much. Drinks took forever to arrive. Our wives ordered Lamb Chops, one was over cooked(charred) and the other raw (had to be sent back). Mussels appetizer tasted old and fishy. I ordered the filet and it was good. My friend ordered the Bronzino and he said it was good as well. The highlight was the wait staff, they were very nice. Perhaps since its end of season there is less staff working? Not sure but hope this doesn't become the norm since this is one of our favorite shore restaurants

We absolutely love Sofia and Jenn our waitress couldn't have been more charming it is our favorite spot in Margate and we will continue to hopefully enjoy wonderful evenings for many years
