This is the combination I didn’t know I needed until I had it and can’t live without it now! When you walk in, the beautiful BBQ smells grace you along with a friendly welcome. We had the half and half - the jerk pork was so tasty and the jerk chicken was to die for! The meat is tender and flavorful. The rice is a surprising main character to accompany the meats. Must try spot!

Got the famous jerk pork and chicken - so flavorful and juicy. I love the combo of Filipino and Jamaican flavors. Lumpia and empanada were also delicious. The drinks are worth it as well. The meals were full and worth the price. Highly recommended

What a little gem and pleasant surprise in Metuchen.
Wanted to try this place for some time and finally had the opportunity, plus my husband and I were celebrating an important moment.
We went in a little blind, only being familiar with the Jamaican part of this delightful fusion. However, we were sooooo pleased with the fusion ... even without ever experiencing Philippino food.
We ordered the salmon and curry crab, oxtail empanada, coconut plantains and the lumpia. Everything was so flavorful and our taste buds were definitely dancing. We also ordered the corn cake for desert ... and what a treat!
The owners were welcoming, patient and took time to answer our questions about the menu.
The atmosphere was bright with good music playing in the back ground.
We will definitely be returning for more empanadas and to try the jerk.
Get ready to tantilize your pallet!!!

We first heard about Bonney's BBQ on social media and made a note to head there next time we were in the area. Had a fantastic meal! I always appreciate any restaurant willing to be adventurous and bold in their offerings and we were blown away by the Filipino/Jamaican fusion cuisine.
We had a tasty guava/lychee Lassi, the Curried Beef Lumpia which was delicious, especially with the pepper jelly. Then had the Sisig with gravy and also the Curried Brisket. All of these dishes were packed with flavor and just the right spice level. The portions were tremendous-a great value, and I love to support local restaurateurs. The owner is so kind and generous, I would absolutely recommend Bonney's BBQ and will be returning.

We went here on a whim and it was so amazingly delicious! Incredibly warm and welcoming staff - and super helpful as well. Lumpia was CRAZY! We got a platter with chicken and pork and it was all so flavorful and tender. My two year old loved the pork. Highly recommend.

What really got me was the curried beef lumpia and the coconut plantain with jackfruit. I personally put the red chili sauce on the plantains and it took the flavor to another level, delicious.
The jerk chicken was ok. Seems to be a dry rub. Very smokey, not spicy.

When we walked in the owner welcomed me and my partner and our friend with warmth and smiles. He showed us the menu and offered us free drink for us to try! The place smelled so good we wanted to try both proteins of the pork and chicken. So one of us ordered the chicken plate and the other the pork. And it’s soooo good, I love a juicy chicken and all the food was very well seasoned but not salty. The pork wasn’t dry either and very tender. The lumpia was very good but if you do have a sensitive stomach it could be a little on the heavier side. I will die for their coconut sweet plantain, which had jackfruit slices as wel! <3
Overall it’s a very good hybrid of Filipino and Jamaican cuisine. The portions are very worth the price, we had left overs ( baon) for the next day haha. Please check them out they’re worth the drive.
Oh and if you also have allergies they are very cautious and accommodating. Very good experience.

Truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time!
I’m not from the area, but the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality. The owners and staff made me feel right at home — such kind, attentive people who clearly care about every guest that walks through the door.
I ordered the ½ jerk chicken and pork combo, the curry lumpia, and the hibiscus kalamansi juice — every bite and sip was a perfect 10/10. The flavors were rich, balanced, and made with love. Toward the end of my meal, one of the owners even offered me some pickled eggs to try and surprised me with a grape lassi for the ride home (I had been eyeing it earlier!). That small gesture just summed up how thoughtful and generous they are.
The atmosphere was casual yet cozy, filled with comforting energy and great conversation. The music playlist was spot-on — the kind that makes your meal even better and your heart lighter. It’s the kind of place you could bring family or friends, enjoy incredible food, and lose track of time just soaking in the good vibes.
The portions were generous, the prices fair, and the hospitality unmatched. I’ll absolutely be coming back soon to explore more of the menu. If you find yourself anywhere near the area, do yourself a favor and stop by — this gem deserves all the love and more!

Many of my chicken pieces were grilled to the point of being burned and inedible.Unfortunately I didn't realize this until I got home. There was no additional sauce or glaze on the chicken which would have definitely helped with the dryness of the platter. Maybe the cook had an off day but you should never send out burned food. Very creative restaurant idea so it's disappointing I can't recommend to friends and family.

A lovely addition to Metuchen’s food scene
It was fascinating to see how creative the owners were in blending two different cultures into the food.
Lumpia with curry beef - 5/5:
delicious + rich curry flavor. The lumpia itself is not spicy (toddler approved). The pepper jelly that accompanies this dish is unreal- a nice kick of heat with sweetness. It’s so good I wish I could buy a pint of it to go.
Beef pares with rice + pickled cabbage - 4/5:
I appreciate the use of smoked brisket chunks for this dish. As a beef dish, it was tasty and very well made. Besides the sprinkling of fried garlic bits on top, nothing else was reminiscent of the beef pares that’s well known in Manila. (In Tagalog, ‘pares’ means the beef dish on rice was paired with something else - traditionally, a soup)
Sorrel + Calamansi drink - 5/5:
Interesting combo, considering they’re both naturally tangy and tart. Somehow they made this combo work. Very refreshing aesthetically pleasing.
Ube sweet corn pudding - 5/5
Must try. Rich, delicious, sweet. The corn part presents itself clearly in the dessert. The $10 pint is great to share with a few other people
Salted eggplant garlic dip - 5/5
On paper, it sounds like a babaghanoush or a hummus-like dip. The garlic chips are light (rice or corn starch puffed chips ? - very Asian). Once you bite into it, you realize the eggplant was charred on the fire , reminiscent of a tortang talong. Amazing.
Overall, a great experience.
I would come back a few times more just to try everything on the menu.
For those of you who don’t find yourselves in Metuchen often, get on the first NJ Transit train down there! This was one of the most innovative meals I’ve had in a long time (after Moon Rabbit in DC). Everything on this small menu blew me away! Each dish was perfectly seasoned, balanced, and executed. As a big fan of baba ghanoush, I fell in love with the Salted Egg & Eggplant Dip. Amazing umami and texture! The plantains and lumpia were also very smart and thought out—how do you retain the integrity of the flavor of each region? Both the jerk chicken and pork resonate with the full smoky flavor of Filipino bbq and the boldness and complexity of Jamaican jerk. And all the drinks perfectly complemented all the savory dishes.
