“This is hands down the best restaurant in NJ right now. The 8 course tasting menu is phenomenal, each dish balanced with unique flavors and texture, and beautiful plated. Our server explained each dish in detail, was extremely knowledgeable of the ingredients and dishes, and very friendly. He consistently topped off our drinks as needed and meticulously provided a new place setting for each course. The ambiance was very relaxing as we sat on the 2nd floor, with beautiful hip, modern decor. I was particularly intrigued by the faucet in the bathroom which was very unique. The overall attention to detail from the concept and design to the food and service is what sets it apart. Fine dining at its best with a relaxed atmosphere that easily compares to a Michelin star restaurant.

Free on site parking is available and it is a BYOB. A liquor store is conveniently located next door in case you forget to bring your libations.”

“Had breakfast here early on a Saturday with a friend. Food was good for sure. However, EVERY person working at this restaurant attended to us. We had a hard time finishing one sentence of our conversation without being asked how things were or if we wanted more coffee. I'm serious, no fewer than 6 people visited our table. Our waitress, Marissa, was personable and helpful; she was taking care of us very well. The 1-star for atmosphere was because the OWNER came to our table and asked if we wanted more coffee. I declined, but my friend accepted. I swear she did this just to make him go away as Marissa had offered us coffee moments before and she'd declined. THEN WE OVERHEAR the manager giving Marissa a hard time because we ACCEPTED COFFEE. His assumption was that she had not been attending to us instead of understanding that women know that the male ego has a hard time with the word NO. Not only should management not be giving a good waitress a hard time, they certainly should not do it where customers can hear. Gross!”

“The desserts and coffee at Pastry Lu are absolutely delicious and high quality. Over Thanksgiving, I enjoyed their apple pie which was magnificent and addictive. They always welcome you with a polite smile and when you look at all their desserts and pastries, you have to take your time because it’s hard to choose. You owe it to yourself to sit and eat your tasty delight there. They present your food and coffee in a beautiful wooden tray. It’s elegant and relaxing. I sat there today and felt as if I was in a European café. I had the strawberry cheesecake which was divine and the Mighty Mocha Hot Chocolate (a combo of coffee and hot chocolate). I added whip cream and fell in love with it. I’ll be going back. I had to refrain from getting two in a row. But this place is worth any extra holiday calories. I adore this bakery and am happy it’s in town. Also a great place to get a coffee or pastry on your way to the train since it’s right by NJ Transit. It’s perfect.”

“We cannot thank Angie and her wonderful staff enough for my sister's bridal shower! Angie and everyone were very attentive to our wants and needs in making this the best bridal shower for my sister Natalie. From the food to the decor, Angie's was the perfect place to host our party.

When arriving, we had very minimal setup to finish on our end, as Angie's decorated perfectly to our taste, so elegant and clean, and cannot thank them enough for even going out of their way to move the display refrigerator out of our space for maximum room.

They were so impressed with the taste and presentation. I ordered a large cake with fruit, candy, and pretzel toppings, and the store obliged my request of spelling my husbands initials with fruit. “I visited the Metuchen Diner on Wednesday, October 30 at around 1:00 p.m. and had a great experience. The diner, which was once known as the “Duchess Diner,” is located on Route 27 at the corner of Lake Avenue and Middlesex Avenue, making it easily accessible to customers. The diner also has a large lot that extends around the back, ensuring that patrons can find suitable parking. I was served by Sue who was great. She was kind, considerate, and offered timely service. She was especially respectful to the lady at the table, who she called “darling” and “my lady.” I ordered the All American special, which included two scrambled eggs, French toast, pancakes, Taylor ham, bacon, and sausage with a glass of orange juice, which took about 20 minutes. The meal was delicious and economical given current inflation levels, costing only $13.95. I particularly enjoyed the pancakes, which were especially fluffy. In addition to the food, the dining environment was also clean and pleasant. The diner featured hardwood floors, laminate tables, and had a bright, but warm ambiance. We sat at a very comfortable booth and were serenaded by 1970s music, including Linda Ronstadt. During my time of visit, the diner was around half-full (30 or so patrons). The diner is also great for children, featuring kid’s breakfast and lunch menus, with meals costing between $7 - $8. Overall, I had a great time at the Metuchen diner and hope to be back soon.”
