The ambiance was very nice. All servers were friendly and mostly efficient. Very professional. But the best part of our visit was the food. It was outstanding! My wife enjoyed a deliciously prepared Branzino while I thoroughly enjoyed my rack of lamb. Exceptional. I would highly recommend the Metuchen Inn.

Food was good, service was lacking. Plates cleared after appetizers, server who took our order asked if we wanted our check. We didn't even get entrees at that point. Had to ask for bread and water refills. Service staff seemed very unorganized. Seems like lack of management or short staffed.

My first time here and everything was just perfect the drinks, had a wedge salad, and the beef short rib which was excellent and well worth it. Our waitress was lovely and knowledgeable and the other staff kept checking with us also. Try happy with everything and I will definitely be back again Thank You

Though not terrible, this restaurant was disappointing. As one who often dines alone when on business trips, it is common to have negative but not terrible experiences especially if you dine early in the evening. Such was the case at this restaurant. Solo diners are often subtly rushed to turn the table even when there are plenty of unused tables. So it was at this restaurant. The staff were cordial but there was a sense of pressure to finish up for no apparent reason. Then, after completing the meal, one hears specials offered at the next table that were not offered to us. Finally, on paying the bill, there is a three dollar plus âsurchargeâ unexpectedly added. We are told that that is to cover the credit card fee. Three bucks is not a lot but it is irksome when not anticipated. The food itself was ok, mediocre at best. This is a lovely venue but it seems mired in years of doing things a certain way. It is a shame that a restaurant with this much potential was so disappointing.

Couldnât have picked a better place for our Christmas get together with lifelong friends. The atmosphere was quaint and charming. The food was perfect and the service impeccable. I had a difficult time choosing amongst 4 entrees. The server recommended the short ribs. They were the most tender, flavorful short ribs, not fatty or greasy at all. amazing.
This place may be great for parties but I wasnât a fan of it for an anniversary dinner. It started with our waiter who asked us multiple times to place our meal order in since the kitchen was busy. We did not even get our drinks yet and he wanted us to place apps and dinner requests in. The food and drinks were ok nothing to write home about. But the service was awful. Our waiter had us pay at the table while he watched us. I will not be going back. Donât let the esthetics of the place fool you.
