Recommended to us by a server at Jungsik, after learning we lived in Jersey, we had high hopes for Common Lot. We had reservations at 6:30 on Wednesday and picked the a la carte menu. The dining room wasn't crowded and we seemed to be the last to be seated. Our table was right under a drafty and cold air intake (which caused our food to get cold super fast unfortunately) but with a good view of the open kitchen. The food was good quality and prepared well but not too memorable. The only dish we didn't like was the salmon sashimi as the cabbage was overpowering. The broccolini was great and our favorite. The restaurant is BYOB and has metered parking (free after 6 I believe) out front as well as a public lot across the street.

Food was decent if you're desperate for a meal pretending to be cuisine. The paint on the ceiling was stained and cracked, the silverware was cheap, the glasses were chipping. Courses came out willy-nilly, some two at a time, some with too-long gaps. Fish was great, ribs were overdone, dessert was mediocre at best. BYO.

Suggestions to the owners: you have a great location which is key. Head into the city a few times every month and try new things and introduce them to your pallet. Insure the staff is keeping things up to standard. Get a young interior designer in there and update without skimping, and you'll be raking in the diners and the dough.

Extremely pleased with our first visit to Common Lot. We came on a Saturday evening and tried both the chef's tasting menu and prix fixe.

From start to finish, we felt very welcome to dine here, and both the taste and texture of food courses were well executed and refined. Server was very courteous and we were given a short description of each tasting menu course. Overall wwould deem this a Michelin-starred experience.

For this visit, we were particularly impressed with beef cheeks and sunchoke risotto. The venison was a close second.

Highly recommend and will certainly return to try other courses.

Not only was the food amazing but the customer service was top notch! Our waitress, Elise, was so knowledgeable and made us feel right at home! Compliments to the chef because everything was made to perfection!! I will definitely be back for their seasonal menus!

I noticed my original review was deleted, a scummy business practice indeed.

I have worked here and dined here. The food is alright, though certainly not worth the absurd price point, but that Millburn for you. The owners are rude and I did not enjoy working with them.

Not sure what happened to us considering the other reviews here. On a special Saturday night one of us got the tasters menu and the other got selections from the four course menu. Other than the desserts the food was uniformly terrible. The couple we were with felt exactly the same way. Wait staff was good and the ambiance was nice if a bit loud. But for the price this was the worst meal I've ever had. We left the majority of most dishes at least half uneaten.

Delicious food and wonderful service! Everything on the menu was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and we tried all of the appetizers and most of the main courses. However, if you want alcohol, you must bring your own bottles and they don’t charge a corkage fee. Highly recommend the dining experience!

The good: Byob. nice intimate ambiance. Ability to synchronize the extended tasting menu with a traditional tasting menu incase only one at the table wants to try it. A okay price for high-end cuisine tasting menus.

The bad: we came during the last week of the winter menu and the food was completely forgettable. The small portions were kinda comical (the asparagus appetizer was pretty much one piece of asparagus). The extended menu had to include a large serving of milk break in the middle just so the diner wouldn't go home hungry. The texture of the cod was mushy. The panna cotta was like hardened jello. The unnecessary inclusion of caviar on a dessert made no sense. Dishes in general seemed muted and at times technically half-hearted. The menu lacked cohesion. There's not a single item I could recall worth recommending.

That being said, we still had a nice time, so I'll give them another chance in the future when they turn menus and perhaps I'll like the food more.

Can't go wrong with the chef's tasting menu. If you are tired of the same old dishes, treat yourself to Common Lot.
