Great pizza, friendly owner

We know Sal from his days working at our favorite pizzeria in Staten Island. The pizza at Carmela’s is very reminiscent of that pizza, especially the Sicilian pie. Best pizza in the area, hands down!

Honestly coming from outside NYC in Northern NJ I was worried about pizza quality. Carmela’s solve that problem in an instant. The pizza was top quality, not just from me, but the whole group I was serving. These guys (or gals too) know how to cook. The place isn’t made to be fancy, it’s a whole “grab your pizza and get going” type of vibe. But lord have mercy this team can cook a pie like nobody else. Chefs are friendly too which is a plus!!

CARMELA'S PIZZA is BEST PIZZA IN MONROE TWP. and the 2 guys that work there are awesome (owner is Sal i think), good people ,great food, Good prices. Good Italian Pizza place. I highly recommend the Sicilian Pie with Sausage AMAZING A++

Stopped in for my first time and I will be back. The pizza was delicious and they use sliced sausage as a topping which I prefer not crumbled sausage.

Small pizza place with great food. Been checking out local places in Monroe township and this place has the best quality per dollar ratio. Other pizza places are good but the prices make no sense. 100% recommend carmelas!

Got slices of cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, and grandma pie. The pizza was good but the grandma pie didn't taste fresh.

I came here because I saw the one picture on Google of the deep dish, in hopes of finding a true Chicago Style deep dish pizza. I want to say the pizza was VERY GOOD!!! I ordered extra cheese, grilled onions, mushrooms, and peppers (which unfortunately were not grilled) with pepperoni Chicago Style Deep Dish. The food really was good, no complaints on taste. I have to be honest and say it is NOT a true deep dish at all. I have watched plenty of videos and I have been searching all of Jersey for an authentic Chicago deep dish, but to no avail. I have 2 complaints, that he uses canned mushrooms, its NOT the same taste as just using regular mushrooms like baby bellas. That the pizza was 32 dollars is Absurd, it's just dough, sauce, and cheese, with a little bit of toppings. The prices are just getting outrageous anymore, I can make 3 pies for the same price at home. The guy/Owner was very nice, I'd definitely go back to try his other pizzas that are hopefully cheaper, because it was definitely good. But a no go for me on the deep dish for the reasons I already listed.

Carmela’s saved me this Christmas! I was so stressed about find the time to make a lasagna for Christmas Eve and Penne Vodka for Christmas. Carmela’s posted on Facebook that they were taking last minute catering orders… called right up and ordered half tray of lasagna, half tray or penne vodka and a half tray of baked clams..Everything was Delicious!!! On top of the food being delicious I have to say how nice the owner is.. he is always a pleasure to deal with!
