Let's start with the food, because that's the most important IMO. It was not terrible, but I can't rate it much better than "adequate". The sesame chicken was praised in other reviews, so I ordered that. The flavor was very good, but the chicken itself was on the tough side. And the fried rice that came with it was OK, but drier and less flavorful than what I am used to elsewhere. The hot and sour soup was, again, not bad but not great. It may, as some reviews have said, be the best Chinese food in Monroe Township, but I'm used to better in Monmouth County.

It is really a takeout place. Their advertised "dine in" is two booths on the side. They serve on plastic foam plates, and you eat with barely adequate plastic utensils. (Well, the utensils might have done a better job if the chicken were not tough.) They do not serve water or tea with the meal, but you can buy bottled water or bottled juice from their refrigerator.

The service was cheerful and just the right level of attentiveness; they do get good grades for that.

We ordered 1× C9. Bar-B-Q Spare Ribs Boneless $15.45, 1× 64. Boneless Chicken $17.45, and 1× 2. Vegetable Roll $3.40. Food was awful. The 'ribs' were tiny, overcooked, meat scraps that were sharp enough to slice my mouth open. The chicken was flavorless and barely edible. The included fried rice tasted like dyed white rice and contained no meat, vegetables, or egg. The vegetable roll was burned to a deep coffee brown. WORST MEAL EVER and customer service, Judy, cared not at all! Dog kibble is easier to chew than their ribs.

So my wife wanted to have Chinese food and she chose this place And I agreed I wish I would never have agreed We all ordered combos rice was hard. Food was not Fresh at all Why do Chinese store workers always talking about there, not the owner?😂 stop lying I paid with cash I wanted a refund she told me I’ll give you extra food or I’ll give you $30 credit. I did not want that. I wanted my money back and she denied me my money back. The food was disgusting. No one deserve to be fed what they are, cooking for people in this place I guess the people who order from here like garbage because that’s what our food tasted like garbage and I pay $56.78 and she also said that her food is 200% fresh🤣😂 That’s it

Disgusting food. We threw everything out. The wings looked old. The rice was dry and burned. We all had a stomach ache after. Will never order from this place again.

Lucky Star on Perrineville Road in Monroe NJ is by FAR The BEST Chinese in the area ! The customer service is excellent the food is always fresh and consistently excellent. The portions are huge. We have tried almost everything. And they are exceptional! Like I said consistently the same great flavor. Portion size and the price is extremely fair.

This place charges you for everything garlic sauce 1.00sm cont. When you want to control how much sauce you want on your food , yet they will put in for free. They overcook their veggies too. Quality of food went downhill I'm not coming here no more .

Great place love by people in the immediate area. Definitely, you’ll be waiting for a table on the weekend which is a great way to tell whether people like the food. We’ve been going there for over 10 years and although not gourmet Chinese food definitely very good for normal Chinese restaurant.

Vegetarian options: They will make to order as well as having quite a few vegetarian dishes

Parking: You usually find a spot within 100 feet of the restaurant

Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome and always appreciated

Wheelchair accessibility: In a large drive up mall with a lot of other shopping. Definitely wheelchair accessible.

I am leaving this review because after the 5 yrs I have been coming to here today I was given old rice. I can tell the rice was old and reheated and ju the vegetables was old and discolored. The rice even has an old smell to it. I asked if I can be refunded $2 and was told no because it was apart of the lunch special. This was my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area but now me and my family will have to find another one

Great little Chinese takeout in a strip mall. The food was great, the prices fair, and the people were friendly and professional. It seemed clean and the food was very good. I'll go again - it's my new Chinese takeout favorite.

They say that they don't use MSG. My husband ordered the hunan beef combo is allergic to msg. I called and the rude woman who to spoke to finally admitted that the company that provides the oyster sauce for Lucky Star restaurant uses msg. When I repeated to her what she said the snappy woman tried to lie and said she didn't say that. When I told her I was recording the conversation she got nervous and asked for my info. My husband had to go to the hospital and get epi injection. DO NOT ORDER from Lucky Star. I def will never give that place another cent!
