This rooftop is beautiful! Very nice place to come for brunch and im sure at night the views are fantastic. We Came here for the haunted brunch. Ordered some spooky drinks and some food. The food was ok. Small portions. Especially the mac & cheese. Overall we enjoyed the rooftop and would definitely come again.

Stunning view at the roof top! If you get a chance to come to Montclair, it’s worth visiting this place for nice view. However, there’s nothing particular other than view. I feel like it’s overrated. Food is small portion but pricey.

Great bartenders but the host (tall man) is completely rude. Half the tables open outside but refuses to let our family go out there to sit even though we are buying drinks. Keeps saying the tables are reserved even though no one is here. Don’t waste your time coming here, this place does not care about service despite their high prices.

Everything about Alto was a delight! The drinks and delicious bites (we ordered 1 of almost everything on the menu ?) of Course the view and we were fortunate with a beautiful night and our server Brandon was top notch! Can't wait to visit again!
With a group of friends it's a fantastic place and gorgeous scenery. The view is breathtaking during Christmas when the city is full of colorful lights with a full view from the rooftop!
You can have a very sensual date night here or dance your butt off with friends.
Beware --- the last few times was honestly really lame. No dance action whatsoever.
You might have to get all the lazy folks to stop drinking and JUST DANCE!!

Service: It was an atrocious display of poor service. Our waitress was a 5'0" Southeast Asian woman in her 20s with glasses (she looked almost Filipino). She was extremely unkind to us, and we had no idea why. She was rude from the moment we sat down. We walked to the bar to place our order, where the male bartender was attentive and kind. This rooftop bar must thrive on hotel guests rather than locals, as everyone who arrived at the same time left early due to the poor service.
Our waitress ignored our table for the entire evening, over 1.5 hours. We spoke to another staff member to request our waitress’s attention, but she purposely ignored their request to visit our table as well. When we directly addressed our waitress as she passed by, she stared at us, did not respond, and walked away, never to return. Multiple people requested to speak with the manager. The managers did nothing to rectify the situation.
Food: The food is not great. They skimp on quality ingredients and offer miniature portion sizes at high prices. The taste of the food is mediocre to low quality. You can get a whole meal at other restaurants for the price of their snack-sized portions, which leave you hungry. The drinks are overpriced as well. I don't mind paying $20 per appetizer, but the food should not be gas station-quality sliders, fries, hot dogs, pizza, and edamame bites.
Atmosphere: The rooftop is typically windy and cold most nights in the spring and fall, and they never turn on the radiant heaters during the shoulder seasons. We requested to have one turned on and learned that they were either completely out of propane or that some weren’t functional. I enjoy rooftop bars, but this deck is pointed in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, you can’t enjoy the city skyline unless you walk to the back corner of the building. The rooftop itself is still nice.
Overall: Although I would like to enjoy this rooftop bar, I won't return unless there is a new menu, management, and staff. This review is based on three visits. I wanted to enjoy this place and hoped my first two visits were anomalies, as I intended to make it my go-to spot since I love rooftop bars. My friends and family all stay at the MC Hotel while visiting, but sadly, it didn't meet expectations.
