Pictures of food look good on google reviews so gave Boschetto a shot.
Quick context, I prefer my pasta and risotto al dente.
We got Truffle Carbonara, broccoli rabe, funghi pizza and short rib risotto.
Best dish was the pizza: dough was great toppings were abundant.
Broccoli rab was boiled or unfortunately too soft for my liking made the whole dish soggy.
Carbonara pasta was soft and the egg was too cooked - scrambled. Was hoping for a creamy sauce that coated the pasta but it lacked the flavor and consistency. Unfortunately was of the lesser carbonaras I’ve ever had.
Risotto - I’ve never had it with red sauce and it wasn’t for me but could be for you. The rice was soft and not al dente and almost soupy so was a major miss :/
Will not be going back again. If you don’t have experience eating pasta in Italy or really great places in nyc then this will be great for you :)
L’ artusi and olio e piu are examples

Very misleading at first glance, it’s really just fast food disguised as Italian food. Should honestly be labeled fast food on here. You order like a fast food restaurant with a cashier and have to pay a tip in advance (the ladies up front didn't say a word to us the whole time, dropped the plate off at the table and left). The food was no different than a college buffet quality and very small portions for the price. $92 for 2 golf ball sized meatballs, a bowl of pasta, with a piece of chicken and eggplant parmesan with warm tap water. They are trying something different here and it’s not for everyone.
Reply to owner:

We chose Montclair, NJ as a midway point to meet up with our daughter’s boyfriend’s family for an early Sunday night dinner. And got so lucky finding Boschetto! What a perfect spot! The food was delicious with so many great gourmet options, including vegetarian varieties. We loved the concept of ordering and paying as we dine, and the leisurely pace of the meal and byob was perfect. The vibe was great, restaurant was modern and clean-and the owner and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Such an amazing find- Boschetto is our new go- to meeting place. We can’t wait to return and try more from their eclectic menu.

Great place. Food was top notch. Found out the owner had been in the restaurant business for decades. All over the world. Comes from a great family. Enjoyed everything and we loved the concept. You take your time eating each course. And it’s BYOB. Don’t miss this restaurant! It was great.

Fresh, high quality food in a clean, sleek atmosphere. Every dish is made as if it’s for family, cooked with love. The amount of effort given to make sure the food is always outstanding is unmatched. Reminds me of the Pasta Shop in Denville.

The food is top notch, no question…order it all. The issue is that the servers are trained to push people to leave their tables towards the end of dinner. I can get onboard with the ordering system - what I can’t get onboard with is asking if I need a box 4 times. (Seriously 4 and we weren’t lingering, we were still enjoying at a slower pace). There was not a line waiting for a table on this occurrence. Imagine if this was in Italy? Great bathroom btw
the fried calamari was amazing, Pasta was good too!

I found your new dinner spot! Think luxury, but make it effortless. It’s giving elevated Italian with a warm, intimate vibe that feels just as good as it looks. The food is a 10 out of 10! The stars of the show last night was the Amatriciana & Maiale Milanese. The restaurant is no fuss, you order at the counter and you sit wherever you want. The food is fresh and service is fast! I’ll for sure be back. It’s also BYOB!

Visited this evening this was probably our 5th visit. We came in after a long hike.
AMBIANCE: The volume was not medium and it was busy (as are most good restaurants on a weekend evening). Most people were wearing casual clothing (jeans, flats/sneakers, sweaters). It's not a formal dining but casual. Towards the end of our meal there were a few patrons who had to wait 10-15 mintues for a table, but all were seated in less than 30 minutes.
STAFF: The host was wonderful and remembered my party from our last visit. The host was happy to accommodate our seating request. Our server was friendly and efficient.
FOOD: The food was fantastic. We ordered two pizzas and a steak.
Tonight we ordered the Funghi Pizza x2 (roasted mushroom, garlic ) and the Bistecca (Ribeye, salsa verde, rosemary, lemon) which is our favorite combination to share.
The funghi pizza flavor was bold, savory, acidic, salty, and fresh. There was not much of an earthy flavor. The musroom texture was perfect (not slimy and not tough, instead they are meaty mushrooms with slighly crisped edges). This funghi pizza is made with a red sauce but it does rival the white sauce funghi pizzas of the world. The pizza crust had the perfect light dusting of flour paired with an appropriate exterior crunch and interior bread-like softness which ensured I ate every bite.
The bisteacca (ribeye) was perfectly cooked mid-rare as it has been every single time we've gone. The steak had a nicely seared crust. Whoever makes the steak cooks like they've worked at a high end restaurant. They make the perfect steak topped with a fresh salsa verde that is exactly like the one we make at home. I'll admit the steak appears pricy ($48) , but their steak is 100% better than any Outback steak. Their steak is consistently mid-rare, the salsa verde is always fresh, and I don't have to do clean up or stress about getting it right. They cut the steak into slices before serving so when it's delivered to your table - they know you're getting a perfect mid-rare. The fact that they make it exactly how I hope to make it at home is amazing becuase I can tell someone in the kitchen is very passionate about food. We always end up fighting for the last slice of ribeye.
WASHROOM: A single, unisex, large, clean, well-lit restroom. In lieu of papertowels, they use fresh hand towels. The door lock is solid and not broken or questionable. The finer details of this room shows that the establishment cares about the overall restaurant experience.
Side note: In the past we've also had their version of a margarita pizza (add pepperoni) which is always a solid choice.
OVERALL IMPRESSION: It's a really great restaurant experiences. Causal fine dining. They make consistently delicious meals. They also have a wonderful outdoor patio in the summer. I highly recommend you visit!

My mother & I dined at Boschetto on 12/6 for lunch. We had the boschetto pizza (their name for a margerita), amatricina, fritto misto. I have 0 notes for each dish. The amatriciana was better than Italy, the bucatini was perfectly al dente & the guanciale was perfect! The Fritto Misto was lightly battered, evenly distributed & the marinara sauce was chef's kiss. The pizza was light, airy & no flop. Service was phenomenal, ordering experience was super easy. The owner greeted us & spoke to us multiple times throughout our time there. It was so good that I ordered the Zozonna to go which was also phenomenal. I definitely recommend & WILL BE BACK!
