We love this place and it’s our staple. Most recently though we went there and I got the lasagna. Came home to food poisoning and felt so bad . My husband didn’t think it was the lasagna so he had the leftovers and you guessed it! He was out for 48 hours with food poisoning too! Idk what happened to this batch of lasagna but it was enough to pause on going there for abit. It’s a bummer coz we love it !

The lasagna is to die for, the homemade ice cream out of this world and the option for outside dining topped it all up into a restaurant I truly enjoy going to!

Words truly can’t capture how much I adore this place. It’s a cozy little venue with just four small tables and a counter that accommodates about six to eight people. While it may be tiny in size, it is a giant when it comes to both service and food quality.

The waitstaff is not only friendly but also incredibly attentive, ensuring that every guest feels valued. I’ve sampled nearly everything on the menu, and I can honestly say that every dish is a delight. The leek soup is outstanding—rich and flavorful—while the tiramisu is simply divine. Their cappuccino is expertly crafted, and the homemade bread is a marvel, warm and fresh, setting the perfect tone for the meal.

In the summer, I particularly enjoy dining outside. Although the tables are communal which adds a lovely social aspect to the experience. I can’t emphasize enough how wonderful this place is to me. After five years of visits, it has become my absolute favorite spot in Montclair, a true gem that I look forward to revisiting every time. Each meal feels like a special occasion, and I always leave with a smile on my face and a full heart.

The food is great. The lasagna was 8 or 10 layers of thin homemade pasta. Sauce was a great flavor right balance of seasoning. Perfect amount of cheese. Their chicken parm wasn't to heavy, and fresh homemade spaghetti was perfect. I don't think you will be disappointed in whatever you get.

I can not say I enjoyed eating on metal tables, metal chairs, no napkins, no tablecloths, no ice, warm water, day old bread, and the food was lacking but not the cost.

Even when completely empty would not serve us coffee and cookies at 4:01pm because their “policy” is that you should have food - even though the entire table was empty , since after 4pm it’s “dinner time”

As a result not only are they willing to give up immediate money for underutilized space but also giving up any opportunity for us to come back there for a regular meal …

The rigidity and snobbish attitude of the staff is what has put me off on the place.

I stopped by “cafè” giotto because it reminded me of a small coffe shop in Brescia Italy. I was alone and wanted to get a cappuccino. They were only doing to go coffee because “they needed the tables for reservations”. Then why would you name your place a café when you serve to go coffee only. I was dissatisfied and dissatisfied by that.

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the area. No matter what you get, you won’t be disappointed. The staff is also super friendly. Also try their other store, The Corner in Montclair for breakfast/brunch!

I was out walking around in the rain going to some of my local accounts and stopped in here on a whim because the pictures of their sandwiches looked really good! I was sat and was given a menu with no sandwiches on it.... the menu didn't say "dinner menu" anywhere on it, so I had no clue they had a lunch menu until after I ordered gnocchi with pesto and a side of broccoli rabe. Then I overheard the table next to me, who was given my same menu that I just had, asked for a lunch menu. I was taken back and pretty disappointed that I'm now missing out on these sandwiches. The server never even mentioned anything to me or apologized for giving me the wrong menu. My food came out, the gnocchi was delicious and very well made, the pesto on the hand was watery and bland. The broccoli rabe was very well cooked and seasoned. Throughout my short dining experience the server kept removing things from my table very promptly... too promptly. Not very many tables here, so maybe they are trained this way so that guests don't stay too long, so I let that slide. I then overheard that the server also gave the wrong soup of the day to the table next to me. I've ran and operated many restaurants and bars in my time and something was off here. I don't know if the server was just having a bad day or if they are normally this incompetent, but if they were working for me at one of my establishments I would be having a serious conversation with them. I dug the vibe here though, so I'll be giving them one more chance and coming back for one of those sandwiches sometime soon, hopefully I'll be given the correct menu the next time around.
