Nice, hard-working people, but treating Covid like it's a joke. Went in the other day, and one of the young women working the griddle had no mask on; the other, a mask covering her mouth but not her nose (useless, i.e.). They also welcomed into the store a mask-free customer who was apparently on a critical mission: picking up a two-liter bottle of soda. The employees didn't say a word to her. I got the old shoulder-shrug when I asked about the unmasked customer. And when I asked the unmasked employee cooking on the griddle, she assured me that it was okay because it was only her lunch and not something for a customer. Thank goodness the virus knows to find only her food and not all the food around her .... Trying to support small, local businesses, but many of them are making it impossible to do so.

Delicious sandwiches. Chicken cutlet is old school and fabulous. Chicken salad is all white meat and fresh. Can't wait to try more varieties. Excellent sandwiches.

Full disclosure I have never had the food here at Cafe Clair but I have visited to purchase NYC bus tickets. Staff here is extremely rude and not customer friendly. After patiently waiting a few minutes at the counter before asking for assistance, I was then told by the man at the counter that what he was doing was "more important to him" we had a brief exchange of expressing our disagreement with each other but that was my cue to exit. There are other places that provide the same services.

Clean space & friendly service. The cafe is a full deli with hot & cold sandwiches & there are some groceries available too for one-stop shopping. There is a table with 8 chairs & stand up counters but I get my food to go. Lots of coffee options & frozen yogurt dispensers.

Alas, the kitchen closes at 5pm. So, if you want the morning newspaper, your morning bagel and coffee, or a BE&C sandwich, this is the place to go. But, if you want one of their very fine, very generous sandwiches for dinner, you're out of luck. Can't imagine what they do from 5 pm 'til 8 pm closing, what with the kitchen being closed.
