Faubourg Montclair Restaurant and Bar

We dined at Faubourg to celebrate an anniversary. They've done a beautiful job with the decor, and the meal and service was fantastic. However, I cannot say the same for the music selection. The choice to play heavy rock at a volume level that made it hard to hear a conversation was incongruous with my expectation of an elegant night out. It was the regretful focus of our evening.

I telephoned the restaurant on February 2 to make a for Valentine’s Day’s February 14. I asked are you taking reservations for Valentine’s Day the man who answered said yes. He then asked if I had ever been there before I told him no this would be my first time . He proceeded to ask me where I would like to sit. I explained this would be my first time to the restaurant so you tell me where is a good place to sit.

He said I’ll put you in the garden area it’s very nice with the lights and atmosphere. I said okay that’s fine. He said what time would you be coming I said 5:00 he said I got it. I said is that it he said you are all set.

When I arrived at the restaurant my husband and I was asked to step in and I gave the young woman my name and told her I had a 5:00 reservation. She searched her computer and could not find any reservation for me. She asked again for my name and phone number but could not find any reservation.
At this point it is getting very busy people are coming in so the gentleman that was assisting the woman asked my husband and I to stand away from the desk.
We stepped aside as they continued to assist others who were coming in. We continued to wait. Once there was no one in front of the door I walked over to the man and asked him again about my reservation. At this point the man seemed agitated so he asked me do I have a history with the restaurant. I explained once again this is my first time ever being at the restaurant. He proceeded to ask well did you get a text message, did you get a SMS notification or did you receive an email with a confirmation for your reservation or did you leave a credit card. Because it is Valentine’s Day you needed to use a credit card and if you don’t show up we would have charged your card $95 per person. I stated the person who took my reservation never stated that. He said they didn’t have any open reservations they were booked until 10:00pm. (I thought what is he trying to say)

Then he asked one of the hostess to take my husband and I to the lounge area where you don’t need a reservation.

The young lady walked us through the restaurant into a room where seating was and to a long staircase and stood at the bottom of the stairs and pointed to a doorway that was at the top of the stairs and said the lounge area is right up there.

My husband and I went upstairs to the lounge area it was very dark it had a sectional like seats around the wall and other seating very low with little small tables.

We did not stay we went back downstairs and I asked to see the manager.. A young woman came out whose name is Leidy Parra to speak with me. I explained what happened I showed her on my phone when I made the call it had the restaurants name she did apologize however there was nothing she could do. She also suggested the lounge area and I explained to her that was not the appropriate place for dinner with my husband.
She said she would find out what happened and get back to me. It has been 2 weeks since this happened and I have not heard back from anyone.

I am so disappointed ☹️

Faubourg Montclair is as fine dining as it gets. From the moment you walk through the door until the second you leave, the staff is incredibly attentive and professional—the service is exactly what you’d expect from a top-tier establishment.

The atmosphere is easily one of the most beautiful I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant; it’s fun, vivacious, and feels truly special. As for the food, everything was exceptionally fresh and delicious. I had the Steak Frites, and it was hands-down one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. We finished with a variety of desserts that were the perfect end to an otherworldly meal.

I already yearn to dine here again. If you're looking for a flawless dining experience in Montclair, this is it.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at Faubourg from the moment we walked in. The space is stunning — chic, vibrant, and elegant without feeling pretentious. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance for both a romantic date night and a lively dinner with friends.
The food was outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented, full of flavor, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. From appetizers to dessert, everything felt thoughtfully curated and perfectly executed. Even the cocktails were crafted to perfection.
What truly elevated our evening was the exceptional service. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and welcoming throughout the entire meal. A special thank you to the manager, Adil, who went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. He checked in personally, ensured everything was flawless, and created a warm, hospitable atmosphere that made us feel valued.
Experiences like this are rare ,incredible food, beautiful ambiance, and genuine hospitality all in one place. We can’t wait to return!

Have been here twice and disappointed both times. Poor service and attention completely ruins the whole experience here. Nobody greets you. Barman barely looks at you. Waiter take too long to service the tables. First time food was decent but they were severely understaffed. Second time we just walked right out after not getting any attention in the middle of the day and there wasn’t even a lot of people there. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. Plenty of better spots in the area.

Faubourg is an absolute gem. The food was amazing, tasty, flavorful, and perfectly prepared, with every dish truly succulent and satisfying. You can tell real care goes into both the ingredients and presentation.
Our server in the upstiars lounge was Daniella. She was equally impressive: professional, attentive, and genuinely kind, making the entire dining experience even better. From start to finish, everything was top-notch. Highly recommend for anyone looking for excellent food and outstanding service in Montclair.

Came here to celebrate my birthday with a small group of friends on a rainy night and had an amazing time. We were seated on the far side of the restaurant which seems to be a bigger and brighter room making it easier for conversation. Our table was a semi circle by the window.

I have known about this restaurant for awhile but haven't had the chance to visit until recently and was glad I did. There were a good selection of salads and entrees, nothing jumped out to me for appetizers but we did get a cheese board and oysters which were tasty. For dinner I had a cod special which was cooked well and delicious.

Service was decent, buzzing vibe and good food. My only complaint is that I have a pet peeve of when you're waiting for dessert/check and almost forgotten.
