Halcyon never disappoints. It was my birthday last night, and this is my favorite place for absolutely any occasion. Every dish is simply delicious. You cannot go wrong coming here. The food, the ambience, and of course the service is always exceptional!!
Fantastic appetizers, awesome jazz, and great ambience. Entrees not great. I had the steak special and overcooked. Got attitude for swapping truffle fries for mashed potatoes. Ordered a dozen oysters and the artichoke and they were phenomenal. Spent most of my time looking for my waiter who wasn't very nice and didn't even wish my wife a happy birthday. Odd considering it was a $350 Tuesday night at 6:30 pm. Seating booths very dirty and corners covered in dust between the booths. Thank you for a fun night!
We went on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. It was easy to get a table, the food was excellent, and we enjoyed some quiet in a place that is normally pretty noisy.
Exemplary dining experience. Our meals were excellent. I will need to look closer at the wine list to choose a wine next time.
We've been to Halcyon several times but not in a few years. The restaurant is still beautiful and welcoming. Our service was mediocre at best, we waited 10-15 minutes for anyone to even come to our table to greet us and had to flag someone down whenever we wanted something. The food came out looking very nice but none of us loved our dishes, they were really just okay which was disappointing especially for the prices. Overall we had a pleasant experience with our friends but would definitely pick another restaurant when inviting people out in the future.
My son and future daughter in law :) Recommended Halcyon! Made reservations. Party of 4. Great ambiance! Love the photography by GEORGE DIEBOLD!! Stunning works of art! Restaurant is beautifully decorated. Service was exceptional. Our Server Tara H was awesome! Knew menu well and able to make recommendations! Thank you Each dish was delicious! Cocktails so good!! Dessert was amazing! Street metered parking
The food and drinks were amazing. There was also a jazz band playing, which was a perfect compliment to the atmosphere.
Odd experience. Entrance, was our first time, had a feeling was backwards. The hostess was not there... came after a while taking in the phone. Service was dry, was expecting more. Food was very spicy, and overpriced. We will not be returning.
Wow! Super fun cocktail selection... A little bit for everyone. Their brunch menu is incredible. Their dinner menu is even better. Again, something for everybody from salads to sushi to steak; you name it they have it and what's out of the ordinary is that it's all perfectly cooked. The portions are sized well. The restaurant is not presumptuous at all although it looks like it would be ( very fun and modern and decorated with impecable taste). Street parking is not a problem. The restaurant is situated in a very cute neighborhood outside of the downtown area but can walk around a bit after dining.
This is my third time visiting Halcyon and today's visit was for my birthday! We had the brunch menu which was so delicious. The steak and eggs - something so simple was elevated beautifully with presentation and flavors. And let's not forget about this grilled oysters. Looking forward to my next dinner!

Everything done well, from the server's greeting through the drinks, fresh fish entrees, and dessert.
Had high hopes, but it was just ok..we had an early reservation, and they sat 3 other parties literally on top of us, very unnecessary..and the brought in a way too loud jazz group..food was very good, but Montclair has much better to offer. They served an alcohol free Negroni which tasted liked grapefruit juice
the zucchini florets were more like jalapeño poppers - not elevated at all. the mushrooms looked one they came out of a grocery store frozen steamer bag - but they tasted good. had the scalloped and crab dumpling entree - scallops were small and a touch over cooked and the whole plate, at $44, looked underserved. some strange looking small cauliflower sprigs. the waiter was a little odd, but pleasant
Food was ok - considering it is a seafood heavy menu, the scallops were overcooked. Oysters were amazing! Service was a bit slow and waiter had a hard time with recommendations. For the cost we felt it didn't match the quality.
First time visiting this restaurant. Met with friends at a mutually agreeable distance. Food was excellent. Mussels in Pernod sauce was particularly good though it needs to be served with fries on the side an not inside the dish. Would have appreciated if bread for dunking into the devious sauce would have been included with the starter. Paella dish could have fed 2. Scallop and ahi entrees were excellent. Haven't seen Spaten beer on a menu ina long time..thanks. Espresso wasn't very good...bitter. At times difficult to hear conversation with children screaming in background. I do not have a problem with parents bringing kids to a restaurant but they need to understand there are others that are affected by their poor behavior.
