Food was extraordinary, service petfect. We were a party of 7 and every dish delicious. Highlights for me were the jalapeño samosas, palek paneer, palek chaat.
I had a very positive experience at this restaurant. The food was very good and we had great service. Will definitely be back again!
Jalwa is a Montclair gem. The food was delicious, our server was attentive without being overbearing, and they can dial the spice level up or down to suit your palate. High recommend.
Ordered delivery. Wont do it ever again. This was disrespectfully inauthentic. The butter chicken is floating in sour tomato sauce and the chicken is hard.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review for Jalwa
I had such a great experience at Jalwa! Everything I ordered was full of flavor and super fresh.
I started with the vegetable samosa — crisp, golden, and perfectly seasoned inside. I also tried the paneer tikka, which was tender, and marinated beautifully.
The dish that surprised me the most was the methi paneer malai toast — creamy, rich, and so comforting. Honestly, it tasted like upscale comfort food.
I also had the Hariyali chicken tikka, and it was juicy, flavorful, and charred just enough to give that perfect tandoor taste.
All together, the food was well-balanced — nothing felt too heavy or over-spiced. Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere felt modern and welcoming.
Highly recommend! I’d absolutely come back just for that paneer and tikka combo alone.

Jalwa is an absolute gem in Montclair. The new owner has created a fantastic and warm experience! From the vibrant atmosphere to the incredible flavors, every detail made our dining experience unforgettable. The presentation, spice balance, and service were all top-tier.
If you’re visiting, here are my top must-try dishes:
1️⃣ Lasuni Gobi — perfectly crispy and full of flavor
2️⃣ Vegetable Samosa — golden, flaky, and perfectly spiced
3️⃣ Goan Shrimp Curry — rich, creamy, and full of depth
4️⃣ Chicken Tikka Masala — a classic done perfectly
5️⃣ Paneer Tikka — grilled to perfection with smoky flavor
6️⃣ Methi Paneer Malai Toast — unique, indulgent, and absolutely delicious
7️⃣ Hariyali Chicken Tikka — fresh, vibrant, and tender
8️⃣ Sharabi Kabab — bold, juicy, and full of spice
9️⃣ Mango Tulsi Prawns — a refreshing twist that’s bursting with flavor
🔟 Garlic Naan —huge fun portion, soft, buttery, and the perfect pairing
🥭 Mango Lassi — smooth, refreshing, and the ideal finish
Jalwa is the kind of spot you’ll want to come back to again and again — perfect for a girls or work lunch, date night, dinner with friends, or any occasion worth celebrating.

We recently visited Jalwa and it did not disappoint. The service was wonderful and the food was truly excellent. We shared vegetable samosa, lasuni gobi and garlic naan before diving into our entrees. The appetizers were enough to share without being too much. Get them all. The aloo gobi masala dum was fabulous, and the chicken makhani hit the spot. Be sure not to miss the iconic dal jalwa. It's creamy and light. We saved the best for last and had the sweet gulab jamun. They taste like pancakes soaked in sweet syrup (not too sweet) and they are delightful. They're bite sized so you'll always have room for this dessert.
First time there. The food was great! Started with the Chicken Tandoori Momo and Bhuna Chicken Bao Buns. Both we fantastic! For our main we had Chicken Chettinad and the Lamb Rogan Josh (my go-to) to compare. I must say their Lamb Rogan Josh was one of the better ones and the portion size was generous! The butter Naan was great- but best eaten as soon as it hits your table. We would return!
Goan curry is not authentic it’s made in tomato instead of coconut. No white fish to serve.
