Amazing food and great service. The Kai Yang chicken with panang curry is a 10/10. Roti is great. Our go to Thai spot in the area.

I've never dined in, but takeout is always amazing. The chef is consistent, and the food is amazing.

I don't know what others are talking about. This food (at least what I ordered) was delicious and flavorful. The kai yang chicken had great flavor, was nice and tender, and the red curry sauce only elevated it. And the papaya salad was fresh, refreshing, and pungent with fish sauce and lime. Overall a great meal

I had such a great experience at Kai Yang! We tried the Chicken Rana, Pad Thai, curry puffs, and dumplings, and everything was delicious. The Chicken Rana was the standout — flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked. The Pad Thai had that perfect balance of sweet, savory, and tangy, and the portion was generous. The curry puffs were crispy and packed with filling, and the dumplings were light but super satisfying. On top of the food, the service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere made it a really enjoyable meal overall. I’ll definitely be back!

Tied as the worst Thai food I have ever had. The basil fried rice smelled stale and had no flavor. The peanut sauce was essentially just peanut butter. I recommend other spots in Montclair.

We got Chicken Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao takeout. They are both really delicious; even after our car ride home. I love how there are depths to the flavours and not just boring seasonings.
I wish the waiter that took our calls didn’t ignore us for 3 times before they picked up. They also didn’t even notice us walking in the restaurant since they were busy talking and facing their backs against the entrance.

Amazing! Fresh! Meat was tender and flavorful…wow!
My husband and I were in the area and dropped into Kai Yang randomly for a bite to eat, deciding to take a wild risk by not even checking online reviews beforehand. In short, we had a decent if unspectacular meal.
I was surprised at how small the serving our fried calamari starter was, which might have been a blessing in disguise since some of the pieces were a little tough. We experienced similar disappointment with the pad thai. Granted, I struggle with most pad thais since I find most to be either too sweet or too saucy. I found Kai Yang's to be both, but I acknowledge this is entirely a matter of personal preference.
In contrast, the massaman curry is a triumph - hot, flavorful, with tender pieces of chicken and potatoes. Paired with rice, we made short work of this entree.
If you're searching for dining vibes, look no further. Kai Yang is dressed to the nines, and we received incredibly warm service from start to finish.

ordered the basil fried rice and calamari. The taste was okay—nothing exceptional, but decent overall. However, the service was excellent

We went there before a dance party in Montclair. This place has been on my list for a while so I was glad to try it out. I was able to make reservations through Google Assistant online which made the process much easier. We ordered a bunch of appetizers that our waitress recommended. We got the wings, roti with curry, shrimp with chili sauce, papaya and mango salads to start with. The wings were very flavorful. We got them with penang curry. The shrimp dish was okay but the sauce was yummy. The roti and the curry were delicious. My favorite were the two salads. They were very well spiced and very well balanced. We then ordered the fried whole fish with the basil and tamarind sauce. The extra sauce was an extra $7. The fish was room temperature by the time it arrived but the sauces were hot so I guess we were supposed to pour the sauces on top of the fish. I think the fish should have been hotter. We also ordered the whole chicken that came with its own sauces. Very good! I think I really enjoyed their sauces. We ordered two noodle dishes which could have had more flavor. But overall it was a great experience! I would highly recommend this place. I will definitely come back. The service was very friendly and helpful! Oh and they are BYOB which is always a good thing!

I happened to be in the neighborhood and decided to try out this spot. I’ve had Thai food before but this basil fried rice was tasteless. It had no hint of Thai flavor at all. It was just hard to digest because it was flavorless. I’m very disappointed.
Authentic Thai cuisine. Friendly, well dressed and knowledgeable staff. Food was delicious and presentation was professional. The decor was colorful and there is an BYOB option and the best table faced the street and by the window. Few tables featured the outside dining experience. Dessert was available.

First of all, I love chicken. They have the best seasoned rotisserie chicken in the tri-state area. On top of the best chicken, best Thai food in New Jersey and I love and know Thai food. Just do yourself a favor and go!
