Le French Dad Boulangerie is such a gem in Montclair! The moment you walk in, the smell of fresh bread and pastries makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a little corner of Paris. The croissants are buttery perfection, the baguettes have that perfect crunch, and the desserts are always a delight. The staff is kind, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. This bakery has quickly become one of my favorite spots in town!

Place is awful. Dessert was okay, not the best I’ve had but not terrible. Tastes pretty stale. Front lady/cashier was extremely rude and had no manners. Not once did she even smile or act happy. Completely ruined the food and our appetite.

Had the cinnamon bun it was dry, didnt taste fresh or like it was baked same day. Paper bag smeared all icing away so presentation didnt look appetizing

I have been a pleased customer since Le French opened. About 3 months ago I saw my favorites decline: apple tarts have blackened edges around apple slices and the flour tart has been dry - Yecch. Appears tart was overbaked. Stopped buying. Lately croissants are jumbo. Authentic French croissants are not jumbo. The French Dad croissants that won an award aren't there. Asked sales clerks if there's a new baker. They said No and they noticed the change in size too. I was told French Dad has new owner who might be the same owner of Montclair Bread. If so, I can understand why French Dad has changed a bit. I was happy Montclair Bread customer for 22 years. Not anymore, don't shop there at all.

Firstly, let me say that the croissants there, both sweet and savory, are very good. I have had them many times. On my last visit, I only wanted 2 plain croissants. Simple order, they are on a rack right behind the cashier. I paid. The cashier did not give me my croissants, which only had to be taken from the rack and put in a bag. Rather she took the next order, which apparently was for a drink and a sandwich. Then nothing. After 5 minutes or so, a person from the back came out and gave a drink and a bag to the guy behind me. Meanwhile I'm still standing there waiting for 2 plain croissants. So I finally had to speak up, which I hate doing. They seemed to be aggravated and took the croissants and handed them to me. No 'sorry' or 'thank you'. While the baked goods are great, I will never return. I won't tolerate being treated in such a manner.
Love this cute little place. The croissants are so soft and flaky. I brought croissants here to share with my friends and they all like them. Macaroons have perfect texture and flavor. The price is also reasonable.
