Forget Katz's, Eppes, this place has the best pastrami sandwiches around. More meat, plus health salad n pickle ? ?

I can't say enough good things about Mikki & Al's Noshery! They recently catered as shiva for me, at the last minute as these things tend to be, for 75 people, with a day and half notice. Natalie was a pleasure to work with and an enormous help, even suggesting cutting back a bit from the amounts I originally suggested (and we still had plenty of leftovers. But most important was the food... we had various sandwich platters of traditional Jewish deli Sloppy Joes, lox and fish, and deli salad sandwiches, and they were the best I've had in years, since the last of the great Passaic/Clifton Jewish delis closed. And for the quantity and quality, the expense was quite reasonable, especially compared to some other places. I mentioned that there were some leftovers, which we enjoyed for several more days. All in all, the experience with Mikki & Al's made a difficult time better, as shivas are meant to do.

Very, very disappointing. We had eaten here before they moved to this new location and really liked it, but from this experience I think the restaurant is under new ownership. We were going to sit down and eat lunch -- there are no tables inside, but there's a counter with stools. So we ordered and sat down. The counter person bagged our order and handed it to us, so we went outside & sat down. I had chopped liver. The addition of caramelized onions was very good, and the rye bread was excellent. But the chopped liver, although deliciously fragrant, had big chunks of unappetizing liver throughout. And could have used a little salt.My husband had corned beef which he pronounced "unedible," and refused to eat. Pickles were good. There was a refreshing salad concoction with jalapeños & cabbage they called "cole slaw." It was very good but it wasn't cole slaw. Drink selection very disappointing. I took a "Pure Leaf" unsweetened tea. I realize that the restaurant didn't prepare it, but there was no tea flavor at all. We traveled to get there, but we won't be back.

Is there BBQ sauce on the pastrami?? Ive had plenty of pastrami sandwiches in my life but nothing like that, good coleslaw
Always great when we order. Pastrami and Reuben are the best. Super high quality ingredients.

This noshery is truly a hole in the wall type of place! A sweet surprise and over slept on! Their everything is made from scratch, even their pastrami, and everything tastes absolutely homemade. I had the matzo ball soup and latkes with some sour cream and apple sauce. Healthy, filling, and an absolute NJ comfort food!

Restaurantji Recommends
Just found this place & have been twice. The Reuben rolls are really good as is the potato knish. The matzoh ball soup was fantastic. Service was good, food comes out quick and everyone is friendly. It’s a takeout spot so set your expectations accordingly. Going to be in my regular rotation from now on.

I have never received such terrible customer service in my life. Last night I ordered a Rueben, when I got it home the sandwich was ice cold and when we tasted it the flavor was off and it smelt weird. They were closed so I was not able to speak to them immediately.I called the restaurant this morning and was greeted with extreme hostility. The woman answering the phone continued to defend the sandwich and speak over me for the entire 15 minute phone call. Not once did she acknowledge that it could be an issue from the restaurant but instead told me that it was my fault because I didn’t not show up for the sandwich exactly twenty minutes after ordering it. If a item needs to be picked up in a strict time period for them to guarantee it, that needs to be written on their website and on any other app that they choose to take the orders through. The woman who I believe is the owner offered me to bring her the other half of the food and that she would give me store credit. I do not want store credit for a $20 sandwich that made my partner sick. I will never eat at that place again. She refused to reimburse me for it but GrubHub did. I highly suggest only ordering through them if you do choose to take the risk. That way if you get something that was left sitting out, you’ll be dealing with a company that wants to rectify the issue, not a person that will be condescending and aggressive.I can’t speak for everything they make but I can speak for this particular Rueben and on how poorly this establishment is ran. As someone who has owned a small business, maintaining a good rapport with my community and customer base has always been top priority, not my ego.

Kind of an old-time Jewish Deli, but "2.0, trained chef inspired." Impressive hand cut pastrami, corned beef, and brisket. The health salad was definitely "2.0" as it was the familiar cabbage mix but without the traditional soupy oil and vinegar dressing. It's very tasty. Mostly take out, but there are tables to sit at. Street parking and a parking garage across the street.

On my writing days, to stay focused, I treat myself to a Turkey Swiss on Rye and a side of Ruffles potato chips. So delicioso! It is truly a superior Deli! Plus, you can go next door and get a HOME-Made fresh out of the oven PUMPKIN MUFFIN! Thank you so much!

A Friday afternoon at 2:00. No one except my husband and myself. One young lady behind the counter, one gentleman towards the kitchen (rear). I proceed with the usual hello, can we eat here?, first time here, etc.
Stone-cold facial reply was “we ran out of bags, I’ve got nothing to put your food in”. Okay, we’ll be staying anyway.
I proceed to say “I’d like a turkey club sandwich please.”
The girl says “do you mean a turkey sandwich?” I now begin to describe a turkey club to her.
I ask: “can I please use your bathroom while we wait?” Flat out “No”!
No reason, no apology, nothing. I turned to my husband and said “it’s time for us to leave”. So we did just that.
It costs the same price to smile as it does to be impolite. Never again and from this scenario, I’m confident they will remember how rude they were to a new neighbor. Sad. I love a good deli style sandwich.
