Absolutely underwhelming. Food is ok, fish is fresh but not exciting, nothing inventive here. While they may cloak the menu items with intriguing language, you're not getting anything here that you couldn't find at another midtier establishment: spicy mayo shrimp, toro tuna, steak. Marinated skirt was good, ribeye was nothing special. To be clear, we did NOT have the wagyu, so I can't speak to the quality of that if that's a priority for you. But even the desserts were mid. Apple pie was underdone and soggy on the bottom. I fear that MM is exactly what well-to-do middle-aged montclair residents are after: chic vibes, decent bites, something to talk about. But if you’re making your way from out of town, don't bother. One and done for me.

2nd visit was even better than the first. We got the filet, sushi, and the cod which was incredible, as well as all 3 desserts. Each dish was something special. The chef also greeted us at the table, which was a unique touch. Will be back many times over

We had the most wonderful meal. Everything was delicious and the presentation was wonderful. I want to say that hay Will the manager really made our anniversary awesome by putting us in a nice section of the restaurant. Fernando was our head server and he was very polished and helpful. He made our night even better with his recommendations and overseeing our service. We can’t wait to come back! We could tell that everyone around use was having a wonderful evening as well.

Thank you to all the staff!

Chef Morimoto and I are best friends. I love this place so much. Everything was really good and served beautifully. The steak tartar was arguably the best in the entire world. The sushi was fresh and delicious. The steaks were even better! I really appreciated Chef Morimoto coming over and saying hello to my table. He even gave us personalized signed menus! That is the moment I knew we were best friends. Thank you for a great dinner and memorable evening.

Marla is the only thing holding this place together!!! The doors don’t even work right!
But seriously, the food is great. Some kinks need to be worked out when it comes to service and logistics.
Marla was great, knowledgeable and welcoming. Answered questions and gave stellar recommendations. Definitely coming back for her.

Stunning space. It’s got that grand Morimoto feel that sets the perfect tone for a date night or a celebration.
We celebrated a friend’s 40th here and the experience was flawless. Great service and a total 'City vibe' throughout the night.

As for the food: 10/10. The tuna pizza, ribeye, and sticky ribs were standouts, and the sushi was super fresh. Every plate was spot on. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a special meal that actually delivers on quality. I’ll definitely be back.

Ok, let me start by saying I am VERY picky. I mean, I’m the type of person that tries to customize a meal/menu in a heartbeat. I decided to celebrate my birthday at MM and just go with the flow to leave things as chef intended, and BOY AM I GLAD I DID THAT.
1) The ambiance is gorgeous. It’s a sneaky hideaway that makes you feel like you’re in the middle of Manhattan somewhere. Upscale and modern—a huge vibe where somehow you feel like you can dress up or be comfortable and it still works. PERFECT for date night.
2) I made a reservation, and my table was immediately ready upon arrival. It was pretty packed when I came in, so they must be managing the flow really well. Food also was pretty quick coming out.
3) The food was PHENOMENAL. I mean, it might be in my top 2 restaurant experiences ever. I loved everything I tried. My friend and I split the Toro Tartare to start, and MY GOODNESS, I was blown away. I’ve never had caviar before and was terrified, lol, but the taste was incredible. So thoughtfully put together. We then split spicy tuna rolls—nothing groundbreaking but delicious and MEATY, which I appreciate. I mean, they really packed those bad boys with chunks of fresh tuna. We both then got the Braised Black Cod. Let me tell you, that might’ve been the best piece of fish I’ve ever tasted. It was so buttery but substantial, and the ginger soy reduction was EVERYTHING. It was so good that I could’ve eaten it by itself, and that’s rare for me. We also split the roasted broccoli (what a massive, yummy serving) and au gratin potatoes. For dessert, the chocolate cake is amazing—it’s like smoother and much more refined than your typical chocolate cake but more solid/substantial than like a chocolate mousse (was that a ganache?). Even the creme with it was fresh, and I loved the chocolate shavings. 20/10 meal, I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
4) Last but not least, what really made my night was the EXCEPTIONAL service from our waiter, Nick. He was super knowledgeable on the menu, answered all of my incessant questions, guided me to make some excellent choices based on my preferences, helped me get through my caviar fear (lol), and was so committed to hospitality that he was determined to make sure everything was perfect for us—down to my cocktail and the glass it was served in. You don’t come across waiters like him much these days, and he really made my birthday. As a marketer, I hate when I feel like I’m being “sold” things, so his humor, candidness, and genuineness was refreshing (and…actually sold me?). I will come back again and again just to dine with Nick and get his recos. He deserves so much for making a underwhelming birthday so special, and I’ll never forget it. THAT is true customer service. A big thank you to him, and the fab host who greeted me with the friendliest, most upbeat demeanor when I arrived (he made sure to seat me with Nick when he found out it was my birthday just to make sure I loved everything). The attention to detail and level of care here is remarkable. I will ABSOLUTELY be a regular here going forward—it’s a new favorite. Run, don’t walk, there to try it! I promise you won’t regret it, trust me! ❤️

Food was good,is it the best for the price ? No ,my local shushi , Japanese restaurant is just as good, service, perfect but most restaurants are otherwise we would not visit, atmosphere, NOISY,not exactly the place to go for a dinner and a conversation,or you can get a late night reservation....okay as for the steak ? No I would go to Lugers ,Old Homestead,.. cocktails? Or drinks ,okay you can come here ....Price ? This is the difference,You are dining in a Morimoto, that's what you are paying for ....would I come back here of course but spending $ 800 for a a group of 6 may not be my weekly cup of tea unless I win the lottery....

This place is super nice for a date night , drinks were good and the service was great, everyone was attentive and polite. The food was okay for me , it was not terrible but their sushi could have been better. The steak they sell is really good and their Caesar salad was Fire ! Like really good. Overall, i definitely recommend it , i was just let down a tad bit with the sushi, it was too fishy for me , a little too salty but not terrible

The restaurant boasted a welcoming ambiance, attentive service, and delectable food and drink. Although a prix fixe menu was served today (Valentine’s Day), the meal was fantastic. We would definitely return to experience their regular menu.
