Very frustrating experience! I love sourdough and I thought “why not try a new place” but it was not good! Two young men working like they don’t care. I asked if they could sliced the bread and that’s how I got my sourdough back! The place it self was very unorganized and not clean. First and last time in this place.

Ordered 50 donuts for my daughter’s 1st bday party and paid in advance. Showed up that morning and was told they didn’t make my order and to wait outside. After going back in I was told I could wait until they “fed everyone else” and then I “could have whatever was left”. Ended up leaving with only 40 donuts of whatever they they threw in the boxes so the frosting and everything was smeared all over. Had to call the owner for a refund of my 10 I didn’t receive. Don’t order from here for any special occasion better service and food elsewhere in Montclair.

it’s a pretty place but that’s about the only good thing about it the doughnuts were stale and dry still edible but not a doughnut to go out of my way for. the cashier was not very friendly wouldn’t go back

Regrettably, I must address a matter of concern. December 14, my sister and I encountered highly unprofessional and aggressive conduct from one of your male staff members, Millie. Present with him were another male and a female. I merely requested that he replace my donuts, as he was using his gloves at the register and on the counter. He appeared to become highly upset and performed poorly with other customers in the bakery. Even when I asked to have my items placed in a box, he told the young man not to do so, citing his displeasure with me.
I believe that such conduct is wholly unacceptable within the environment you endeavor to maintain for your business. I am familiar with these circumstances, as I have been visiting my family every summer. When I advised him that I would report his behavior, he responded by indicating that I should proceed, as nothing would come of it.

I went here to pick up a too good to go bag and was referred to as being homeless at least 4 times by the cashier. The other cashier continuously spoke in another language i did not understand and i could not help but to think that this was happening because i was the only minority in the room. I left my intended purchase there and cancelled my order from too good to go. I will never encourage any minority to enter this establishment to be subjected to this type of disrespect and ignorance.

Second time I showed up only to find both times they can’t make breakfast sandwiches. What a waste after a 30 minute drive I’ll be making my own. Somehow I let hunger get the best of me, my regret spending the $40 for 6 doughnuts and a $12 pre made sandwich : /
I would never recommend this cafe to anyone. I went in today and ordered a macchiato and it was my biggest regret. The drink was not even half way of the cup and had a horrible taste. While making I never saw the girl use gloves and the foam she used was spilling all over. Not to mention the food, flies all over the donuts and bread, absolutely disgusting. Don’t go here, or spend your money, you will regret.

Montclair bread is one of my favorite places in NJ and they are always on point with their food and service so I was pretty shocked on my most recent visit. Ordered two of the $12 breakfast sandwich and at that price point there’s no room for error. First time I had it, the eggs were an frittata and flavorful, a decent amount of bacon, and fresh arugula. This time the eggs were just scrambled, arugula was wilted, and they forgot to add bacon to one sandwich. The gentleman at the front also forgot to pack one of our donuts, fortunately we were able to peek inside the box and have them correct it.
That same gentleman was also a little out of it during our transaction, with a surly expression, and made it obvious he didn’t want to be there and didn’t appreciate customers bothering him. Out of place for an establishment known for its warmth and service.
