Deli and bread options have always been great at Nicolo's and I can certainly chalk up their sometimes brash service to having bad manners to begin with so why two stars? Well, I draw the line at being obnoxious to your customers and let's just say I've heard the rumors and I had not one but a few questionable encounters when I used to order from here some years ago that I made the decision to spend my money elsewhere. There are several other Italian deli's in the immediate area with equally good food that will treat all of their customers like they are a part of the family and I am happy to spend my money with that group. If you are a decent human, then take that for what it's worth.

Do I feel like I'm "stepping out" on Belgiovine's when I'm in Montclair but decide to come here instead? (I do.) But it'll only take one visit for you to be a true believer as well. It's small. You walk in and aside from the squad of friendly workers at both main counters you'll first encounter the amazing breads (and treats). All the shapes, styles and sizes your carb-loving heart desires will be found on one of these racks. Expertly made... dense, sturdy, flavorful, with a mighty crust (that'll give your Fixodent a workout!). Take a few steps towards the 'back' and now you're at the deli and it's overflowing with options. Each item looks bewitching and alluring and before you can even finish saying, "A pound of..." - somehow it's already sliced and bagged and the guy is waiting on the next item you need. (Maybe it's that luscious square of eggplant parm that they've intentionally left "posed" on top of the spatula or the Italian hot dog platter or that mountain of sauteed broccoli rabe that you know it's going to have that perfect 'bite'.) And as soon as you get home you immediately start crafting what's to be a most perfect sandwich with their seeded semolina, fresh ball of mootz (so creamy and delectable), and a few other odds-and-ends you snagged. Thank goodness this town is big enough for more than one amazing Italian deli and I don't have to pick which is my all-time fave.

The food screen definitely going again. I thought the pace was a little bit bigger than what it was and it had done but it doesn't, but all in all the food is super definitely definitely a place to go.

Grew up eating bread from this bakery. It used to be way above the best for all types of Italian bread way better than any other bakery. I went this year for Christmas and it seems like their bread has changed .I was really disappointed. I hope it was just an off day.

This is one of the best Bakeries in town, it's like a second house to us to get our daily breakfast because we're normally on the road and no time to cook. They have any dish from scratch, fresh and tasty. Very recommended!
