I ordered two bowls from Proven Poke in Montclair. I’ve ordered here for years never a bad bowl. One of them came out great — fresh ingredients and exactly what I asked for. Unfortunately, the second bowl was completely wrong included ingredients I didn’t order and didn’t include any fish at all, which was really disappointing. I requested them to mix my poke as well and they couldn’t because there was nothing to mix. For the price, I expected more consistency and attention to detail. Don’t think I will be returning and taking my business elsewhere, sad. I will have to break out some frozen food.

Had high hopes for some Poke. Was excited to try their onigiri (Japanese rice ball) and their poke (bowl of fresh sashimi with some rice & toppings). Fish was great & delicious. Toppings were nice with the poke. They informed me they had no more white rice or sushi rice & had to sub with brown rice. However, the brown rice wasn’t properly cooked altogether. There were bits here & there that was uncooked, which meant it needed more water, I was fine with waiting. The same brown rice was also used for the onigiri, sadly two out of the three onigiri didn’t hold up well when trying to hold it altogether with my selection: “spicy salmon” and “spicy tuna” both of these onigiri were FLAVORLESS. Absolutely bland. Quality of fish is still good, just no seasoning whatsoever. The shrimp tempura onigiri held better cause it was half & half brown rice & white rice, however, it was still unseasoned… for my poke, I enjoyed the avocado, both seaweed toppings, both onion toppings, and the tamago was questionable, doesn’t seem to be freshly made…served very cold. The sauce was suppose to be yuzu ponzu but it tasted like soy sauce. The decor & interior & atmosphere was nice, staff were also nice but the execution on food was heavily poor.

The poke bowls and sushi used to be fresh. Not anymore. To compensate, now there is a DIY ramen bar. But the quality of ramen noodles available is atrocious.

This was the most abysmal experience I’ve ever had ordering from a restaurant literally in my entire life. I cannot believe the way this business is run, I am appalled by it. Thank goodness for ezCater’s support staff constantly helping me find the next step forward, but this restaurant is really horribly run.
I placed an order for pickup, the order was confirmed by the restaurant, and when my pickup person arrived at the restaurant they didn’t even believe we had an order. We show it to them, they call the owner, and apparently the owner forgot to bring the printed order from home(???) so the staff had no idea. Mind you, I placed this order days in advance— the owner had plenty of time to do this, and really should just have a printer/ tablet in the restaurant maybe??? They say the order will take 30 minutes. Fine. I let ezCater know, we get a partial refund. 40 minutes later I call my pickup person and find out they JUST started making the order and need another 30 minutes, over an hour after the agreed upon time. By this point it’s just gonna be late and seriously had the potential to cost our company THOUSANDS of dollars. I’m furious, call ezCater, and the incredible support person says they’ll handle it. My onsite contact tells me that they’re putting the food away and won’t make the order— the ORDER that was placed DAYS IN ADVANCE and CONFIRMED BY THE RESTAURANT. So all that time I could have spent looking for an alternative I spent WAITING on an order I NEVER RECEIVED. I demanded to speak to the owner, no one would connect us. I called ezCater again, they tried to reach the owner— he’s ducking their calls too. What a weak person, to leave the young wage working employees to deal with a mistake that was ENTIRELY his own fault. Weak character; beyond embarrassing. I’ve had restaurants forget things and then when we go back for it they’d give us a complimentary voucher of sorts— just something to acknowledge their mistake and attempt to reconcile it. The owner here did nothing. Absolutely nothing. The worst part? — we’ve ordered from here for years. We loved Proven Poke. Now it’s just an embarrassment. Utterly unforgivable.
If I could give this half a star it would still be more than this restaurant deserves. My heart goes out to the employees who have to deal with this incompetence routinely.

We tend to order delivery more than eating in, however our orders are always perfect and get to us quickly. Carmelo is especially sweet and helpful when we have questions. We love purchasing from this well-run business!

There was a piece of metal in my burrito. Luckily I did not bite too hard into it… I called and the employee apologized, but hopefully nobody else has this experience. For the price I’m very disappointed in the quality here.

Ever since I went to Hawaii 3 years ago I've been on the search for inari and little did I know it was in the town over from me. Within the first bite I was overjoyed knowing I finally satisfied that craving. The tuna tasted fresh and the inari as a whole was bursting with flavor. 10/10 will be making Proven Poke a go to.

proven poke is sooooo good. the workers are so nice and friendly. the food is fresh and high quality and the fish is never not fresh. and the place is nice and clean. i would definitely recommend going here bc not only is the food great, the service is too.
