This has been my favorite deli in town since I've lived here. The Italian style sandwiches are really tasty. But what makes Sal's stand out is how many healthy options they have. If you normally dread eating salads, this place makes them a lot more interesting and filling, using ingredients like quinoa and farro along with seasonal squash, green beans, and other cooked veggies along with good dressings. You can't go wrong. After having grabbed lunch here numerous times, I connected with the lovely owner Vee for a catering order for a small party. She was so nice to work with, not to mention flexible and accommodating for our child's food allergies. Everyone at the party really enjoyed the salad and sandwiches! Try them out for lunch or parties.

I ordered my first catering from Sal's Gastronomia and boy did they provide! Vee knew exactly what to recommend and how much to order. The dishes were delicious. Everyone loved and raved about the food. The pricing is fair for good food, and the attentiveness from her was just right. Vee even plated the food on my own platters, which looked beautiful, which is also good for the environment. No waste, no plastic. Vee will be my first stop the next time I need catering.

Chicken milanese sandwich is one of the best chicken cutlet sandwiches I've ever had! All of the ingredients were very fresh and tasty. Veggie pressed sandwich was good but I personally believe it would be better without the provolone cheese. Ordered delivery through Grubhub so have not experienced the staff service yet. Definitely would order again!

Chicken tortilla Soup and veggie sandwich delivered on a cold Jersey afternoon. Sandwich has layers of fresh vegetables. The eggplant perfectly seasoned and crispy.When ordering via app if you don’t see an item, call the staff is very helpful.
Woke up hungry, it's cold outside and I want soup. I didn't see the soup I wanted on Uber eats, now the cold hangry me is calling. The person who answered the phone was so pleasant, gave instruction on how to order, and took my name to ensure my order was fulfilled correctly. Soup and veggie sandwich with hummus is on its way. It arrived early. Great let me eat it before it gets mushy. The sandwich box is large, now I'm curious. The sandwich Is beautiful, the color of the vegetables led to a photoshoot. The texture is perfect, eggplant was crispy, it reminded me of chicken cutlet. ( now you know I love a chicken cutlet). No mush! I saved half for dinner, still no mush. So, it was soup and sandwich for dinner. The soup was great not salty or greasy. I shared a small piece of the sandwich with a non veggie sandwich eater and they enjoyed it.

We ordered catering from here for my daughter’s first birthday party! Vee was incredible and the food was such a hit. She curated a perfect menu for my gathering and everyone was raving about how great the food was. My favorite was the chicken Milanese sandwich. Highly highly recommend! I will definitely be eating here again and hope to cater future events from them.

The food here is wonderful. It’s a hidden gem amongst so many restaurants. Everything is fresh with clean ingredients. The sandwiches are unique and delicious, as I’m sure everything on the menu is. The owner is very nice, even came out to see how our food was. Will definitely be a new go-to in Montclair.
