Try not to leave negative reviews, but there were so many errors ordering here.

Asked for toasted everything w/ bacon, egg, and cheese, and as I ordered a woman came in saying they messed up her order. Her bagel wasn’t even completely wrapped and they were confused about the mess up. Everything took too long.

I then came home and unwrapped, instead of my order, lightly toasted plain bagel with cream cheese. Nope.

This place is pretty filthy. Do yourself a favor - look INSIDE the case - look in all the corners, look at the undersides of the shelves. Check out the tables - always covered with crumbs and debris. Look at the floor. Look at the bathroom. Then imagine what it's like behind the counter. It will make you want to vomit and never eat there again. I struggle because it's the most convenient bagel shop to me - but I finally decided I've had enough. All the one star reviews on here are very telling.

I love their BEC's - went here a lot as a kid and it still remains one of the best.

I ordered a toasted rainbow bagel with butter on it for my child who was with me. When we got to the park to eat it, I thought they screwed up and added cream cheese. But no, it was butter. This picture was taken after I had to use five napkins to scoop off the globs of unsalted butter. The entire thing was like a lard soaked butter bomb, I’m quite shocked that anyone would dress a bagel like this. Particularly for a child.

I don’t know what’s worse at Sunrise Bagels—the mediocre food or the unbelievably rude service. The bagels are bland and chewy, but the spread? Absolutely the worst. It tastes like they just slapped on some cheap, flavorless paste instead of a proper spread. Honestly, it ruins the already subpar bagels. To make matters worse, the staff is rude and unprofessional, acting like they’re doing you a favor by even acknowledging your existence. There’s zero care for the customer experience here. Do yourself a favor and skip this place—there are far better bagel spots that actually care about quality and service

Boiled, big and hearty. One of the better bagleries in the Montclair region. No spicy cream cheese options, though.

Staff unfriendly. Charged me extra for toppings I didn’t ask for.

Very disorganized and extremely rude. They also charge you 15 cents to toast your bagel lol

YOU WILL BE SERVED A BAGEL THAT FELL ON THE GROUND. Watched the *owner* of this place drop about 5 or 6 bagels on the filthy floor after removing them from oven, and then shoved them all into the bagel baskets. Probably happens everyday. This place is an unsanitary health hazard. If you go here, you might just get a ground bagel yourself.

Great food and service! ? The food is literally placed in the storage area meticulously. You can tell they take pride in their food and how it is presented. Not only did it look good, it tasted even better. The softest bagel I've ever tasted. I got grape leaves as well (I usually only purchase these from Greek spots) and too my surprise, they were delicious. The staff was pleasant and wanted to help in any way. My mother has allergies and they stood with her for 5 minutes going over the menu to see what she could eat. Top notch service goes a long way and is rare. Sunrise Bagels has become a staple eveytime I'm out around their way in NJ!

I cannot believe how negative some of the reviews of Sunrise online are, as the food was outstanding and I had a great experience.

Back in NJ for work this past week, my colleagues had ordered a ton of bagels from Sunrise and they were really fantastic. HUGE, with lots of options, and perfectly prepared. Told that Sunrise was a favorite of local Montclair legend Yogi Berra, I wanted to head to the shop for a proper breakfast and to get bagels to go before I headed back to the south.

I arrived pretty early in the morning (7:30ish) and had very good service, enjoying a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese. The space in the restaurant itself was also great - clean and comfortable, I was able to eat, have coffee, and work for a couple of hours (there IS free WiFi) without troubling anyone.

If you're in the area, definitely check out Sunrise. I'm certainly glad I didn't take the negative reviews here too seriously.

Literally the worst bagel shop experience in my life. My bacon was burned, the bagel was stale, and the egg was dry as hell. The only thing saving that bagel from assassinating me via choking hazard was the ketchup, which they drowned the bagel with anyways.

On top of that, the worst service I’ve seen ever. Entitled, obnoxious, and rude. They literally made fun of my last name when my girlfriend came to pick up the food and showed her no respect.

Never been to a bagel shop incapable of toasting some bagels. Felt like i was chewing through leather.
