Myself and 2 girlfriends dined here on a Saturday night, we didn't have a reservation but they accommodated us anyway. Great customer and delicious food

I have ha many different versions of soul food and this by far is just like my mama's. Especially the candy šŸ . You put your foot and heart and love into this food. Thank you and I will come back.

The place is a beautiful , the customer service is mehhh. The menu is very starchy , not a lot of green items. I was indecisive so I settled on Salmon cakes and grits. Let’s just say breakfast is not there strong suit. Overall I do not recommend

I never leave a review even If the food is bad but for $124.00 it was one of the worst food I’ve ever ate. The short ribs was a least a day old the mac & cheese was straight from the box and was also old greens was canned the thing that was ok was the biscuit and gravy the grits I don’t even want to talk about those. The food wasn’t even hot wasted money because the wasn’t even really touched P.S. clean the utensils a lot better

I stopped by Sweet T’s in Montclair recently, and wow—what a warm, satisfying meal.

I had the smothered chicken (a mix of fried, baked, and covered in gravy). The gravy was flavorful and rich without being too heavy, and the chicken was tender.

I also had their biscuits and gravy, and they were just as comforting. The biscuits were buttery and soft, and the gravy had that perfect peppery kick. Oh—and their hibiscus sweet tea? That might’ve been my favorite part. Not too sweet, super refreshing, and just a little floral—it paired perfectly with everything.

The atmosphere was easygoing, and the staff was kind and attentive without being over the top. If you're into Southern comfort food done right, this place feels like a little slice of the South tucked into Jersey.

It was a great experience all around I had a great time our server (Aj) was very nice and patient. Food was great and plated nicely. Very nice scenery played great music throughout the way but it wasn’t to loud that you couldn’t hear yourself all around a 10/10 experience.

I was excited to go back to Sweet T’s, expecting a soul food experience rooted in culture and care. Instead, it felt… off. The restaurant was nearly empty, and the staff was almost entirely East Asian, with only two Black employees present. The atmosphere felt more like a performance than something grounded in authenticity—like cultural cosplay rather than a genuine soul food experience. It was uncomfortable, and the energy in the space just didn’t match the spirit or warmth I associate with soul food or that we’ve experienced before. Definitely not what I expected, and our family left feeling unsettled. Just weird . . .

While in the area on business for several weeks, I became a bit homesick for southern food. I figured Sweet T’s would be the perfect place to quench my thirst for sweet tea, which is hard to come by in New Jersey. Perhaps I’m spoiled living in the south, but the food was mediocre at best. The salmon cakes were dry and pretty pale, lacking flavor. The grits were the best part, as they provided some creaminess, though it’s hard to mess up grits. Upon reviewing the menu, I felt the prices were quite high. My sweet tea was $5 for a cup, and they do not do refills. I’ve never been anywhere that doesn’t do refills on an iced tea. On top of that, 20% gratuity was automatically added to my bill— also something I’ve never experienced as a solo diner. The service was fine and I’m always happy to tip, but forcing gratuity on small parties (in my case, just one person) was a bit unusual. With that being said, the restaurant appears to take cleanliness very seriously and the presentation of the food was nice.

Food and service are phenomenal. I’m a southern girl living in North Jersey, every menu item I tried and the atmosphere made me feel like I was back home! Can’t wait to go back!

Went here for date night with the wife. Didn’t expect the restaurant to be so small.. Regardless it was professional, tho it took the servers a little while to get to our table. The food was incredible. The cornbread with the strawberry sauce was amazing. Best cornbread I’ve ever had. Overall this place is great & definitely worth the experience.
