Holidays and brunch — what a perfect combination! After a heavy Christmas meal, the last thing you want to do is cook again. At the same time, there’s no real mood for a full lunch either. Brunch fits perfectly. We found this spot in Montclair, and it has a very laid-back vibe. The restaurant has two levels of seating, and at first glance, it gives off a vintage, almost mountain-side restaurant feel. Since we were with a baby, we chose to sit on the first level. About the booth seating — maybe it was just me, but getting into the booth felt a bit tight. The table was so close it almost felt like it was touching my chest. Food-wise, they have some really good breakfast options, and I was honestly confused about what to order. In such situations, I usually ask the server or check Google for best sellers. I went with the Southwest Breakfast Bowl, which comes with grilled potatoes, corn, avocado, egg, mayonnaise, and cheese. It was really good, and I ended up craving more, but hey, it was brunch, not lunch, hahhaa My wife went with the Signature Pancake Flight, which turned out to be a great choice. It’s a nice option if you want to taste different flavors. The pancakes were small, fluffy, and tasted amazing — no syrup needed at all! I tried their drink: Unicorn tears: its milk-based drink with some syrup. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it. Portion size was just right. Enough to satisfy your hunger, but not the oversized, heavy portions you get at some chain restaurants. Service was good as well. I would definitely come back to try other items on the menu.
As soon as we sat down, the table smelled dirty, as if it was wiped with a dirty mop. The waitress then came to our table and handed us menus, which were stained of food and drinks- obviously not wiped. Then at the end of the meal, I took my two daughters to the bathroom. We waited outside the door since both bathrooms were occupied. Finally, the bathroom door opened and an employee came out and walked back to the kitchen. The bathroom wreaked of poop. We quickly tried to finish because it smelled so bad and when we were about to wash our hands, the soap dispenser had no soap! So this employee used the bathroom and did not wash his hands!!! I asked a waitress for soap and she could not help us with that so we went into the other bathroom, which was now available, and washed our hands properly with soap. We left the restaurant completely grossed out. I regret not going back to talk to a manager. Fast forward to 3 days later, and one of my daughters now has the norovirus. The most obvious place she picked it up was from Toast! Never again will I step foot in that filthy restaurant.
I wouldn’t recommend the lattes or cappuccino. The coffee was either burnt or old.

I had breakfast at Toast Montclair this morning! The food was overall enjoyable, though with a few drawbacks. I had the chicken wrap, which tasted good but had a bit too much blue cheese, giving it a slightly vinegary taste. Still, I’d rate it 8/10. The wrap came with fries, which were overly greasy and not very appealing, wouldn’t recommend the fries , u can substitute for fruits tho or salad . My boyfriend had a bagel with eggs and home fries, and he really enjoyed his meal. While there were some hits and misses, it was a decent experience overall.

It was a poor experience turned fair. We were seated by the server where I stood in the cold doorway. After a long wait, we requested to be reseated in a booth. When the waitress finally came to take our order we were greeted with a defensive attitude after informing her we were to be reseated in a booth. We were then told the booths were for 3 or more after the 2 the people occupying it exited. We then informed her the hostess was clearing the booth for us. After sitting, we immediately placed our order. When it arrived, there was a skin on the microwaved banana foster topping, the turkey bacon was cold, however the french toast was delicious and hot. Overall the taste was good but the service was suffering with no apologies. 10% tip.

Went with a group of friends for brunch and they had ran out of multiple ingredients for our meals. The waitress then forgot our orders twice and we ended up being rushed to leave as they were starting to clean up and close around us. I guess best thing going for this place was the BYOB; we had champagne w cranberry juice -_-
