We tried Turtle & The Wolf in Upper Montclair and the food had some real highs. The crispy potatoes lived up to the name and were absolutely perfect, while the short ribs were tender and melted in your mouth. The chicken entrée was really well done with a sauce that tied it all together even if I can’t remember exactly what it was. The only miss were the wings, which were just mid compared to everything else. Overall, definitely worth going for the potatoes and short ribs alone.
Service was excellent. Edwin was top notch server !
Thank you

I've been wanting to try this spot for years and I'm so glad I finally made it. We started with the rosemary fococcia which is a must try. It has a nice crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. We also ordered the beef tartare and shishito peppers which were both very good. For the mains we ordered the steak medium rare, although it came out more medium. The au poivre sauce and the crispy fries were the stars of the show. I ordered the squid ink risotto and octopus which was good. I definitely want to come back to try their fried chicken dinner which they're known for and the muscles. For dessert we got the chocolate peanut butter pie and the donuts. BYOB, if you forgot don't worry, there's a wine shop across the street and next door.

Wonderful local bistro, with very well-prepared food, attentive service, and pleasant (but perhaps too dark) ambience

4.7 doesn't do justice. This place is a hidden gem. Wish they had a liquor license, but we know how that goes.

It’s my favorite local BYO gastropub, what can I say? Nothing ever goes wrong. There’s a great wine shop directly across the street, how convenient. (Get a Brunello) most recently my buds and I shared a roasted suckling pig! It was cooked and seasoned to perfection and was a melt in your mouth chef’s kiss all the way through. That came with their to die for biscuits, some roasted shisito peppers, Brussels sprout slaw and I think some kind of potatoes, I forget. Also 3 dipping sauces for the pork: bbq, honey and hot. I love sauces as much as I do pork! We all pigged out. We got a few apps and desserts and shared everything and one dish was better than the next. Oysters, beef tartar, burrata, doughnuts, maple crème brûlée - it was all phenomenal. It gets busy on the weekends so expect a little noise. The vibrancy is offset by the very chill vibes inside. A couple of years there now, you know T+W has hit their stride.

Went out on short notice Wednesday night, we were able to be seated without reservations, and the resteraunt was about 3/4 full. Service was quick and attentive, and food was delicious. We had to leave early due to a movie reservation and didn't try the desserts, but we will definetly be back.
Parking: Metered lot in the back, free after 7pm. Limited metered parking out front.

My wife and I have visited for dinner a couple of times and it never disappoints with excellent food, great service, and a trendy vibe. One of our favorite dinner finds in the area.

We were a group of 3 who came here for my mothers birthday. On the reservation I noted that we were celebrating my moms birthday. When we arrived at the host we were immediately seated and she wished my mom a happy birthday which I thought was very nice that she made noted to do so. Restaurant is very sleek and modern looking. They played great music and the art decor was pretty cool. I noticed on the menu that they specialized the menu for my mom and put Happy birthday on it for her and I knew right there I was gonna be blown away. I really appreciated the little things the restaurant did and the staff. Our waiter I believe his name was Craig (😬) was awesome. Very attentive, knowledgeable and really enhanced our dining experience. The whole staff was amazing really. Good was amazing, we wanted to try everything but our stomachs wouldn’t allow it lol. We had the oysters, pate, and tartare, dinner was fried chicken, brick chicken, and swordfish. We all shared and everything was truly delicious, especially the fried chicken. What a crunch! And the side sauces and biscuits, chef kiss! Dessert was amazing too and they brought it out with a candle. I really enjoyed the dessert dining experience here, my mom loved it and I will definitely be back again. It was truly a special evening which they help create.
