So I wanted the perfect Jamaican food experience while on vacation the rice was mushy &a little bit of cabbage, but the oxtails were tasteful wasn’t worth $30

I recently hosted a birthday party for my mom, and the incredible people who own and operate JA Spice catered the party. They food was an absolute highlight of the evening! My family is Jamaican, and we were so appreciative to be able to enjoy authentic Jamaican cuisine for the special occasion. Big shoutout to the chef and to Ms. Valerie for being so accommodating and hospitable! We will definitely be returning customers.

I almost didn’t stop because from the outside it’s a small, simple place, but I’m so glad I did. This ended up being one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time.

The owners (a husband and wife team) were incredibly friendly and welcoming. She took the time to walk me through the menu and explain everything, which made the experience even better.

The food was made fresh right in front of me, and you could absolutely taste the difference. The oxtail was tender, flavorful, and packed with delicious spices. The mac and cheese was fresh out of the oven and honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. Even the hot sauce they served on the side was amazing and complemented everything perfectly.

You can tell they genuinely care about their food and their customers. Great portions, great service, and incredible flavor. This is the kind of local family-owned spot that deserves support.

10/10 experience. I’ll definitely be back and would recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic, fresh, delicious food.

I don't know what happened to this place. Or maybe I'm chasing something that doesn't exist anymore. I used to love their pasta but every time I've gotten it over the last year or two, it's basically been Butter Doodles with some chicken thrown in it. Nothing else. Everything else is usually good. I don't know what happened to this dish. I'm giving three stars cuz I do enjoy this place but that is really disappointing.

Placed an order for pick up 30 minutes before closing and the food was so fresh. Ordered the rice and peas with oxtail and cabbage. As well as a the jerk chicken. The oxtails were so tender and the jerk was so flavorful. Everything was very tasty. We were greeted with so much warmth. Definitely recommend JA Spice. We'll be back for sure!

Got the jerk chicken with rice and cabbage and the cheesy co co bread, this food is so yummy and a lot of food!! I travel for work so I may never be again, but if I am, I will be back. Highly recommend!

I was visiting NJ and check out ja Spice Island i order jerk pork when I got to the hotel it was oxtail I called to tell the lady I got the wrong order the guy in was cursing acting all crazy will never go back there i think he needs customer service training

Honestly everything was so so delicious and the food was absolutely made with love. I got the brown stew chicken with, Mac and cheese, and plantains. Also got two beef patties because they were so delicious!! Can’t wait to go back!

Tried this place for the first and only time and you talk about thoroughly disappointed. I don't know if because of the location they think no one will know better but this was horrible. Check the pictures you talk about stingy with the food. The whole order was $29. I ordered Jerk pork with cabbage and baked Mac n cheese. I received a pork chop with jerk season on it and the faked Mac n cheese if y'all wasn't going to fill it you should have put it in a smaller container. It looks like someone gave me their leftovers. These pictures are literally just open up and have not been touched. Then they have everything hidden so you cannot see what's going on there. Again thoroughly disappointed.

All I can say is I'm in disbelief at the presentation an the taste of the food. It was horrible. And I have ordered from here several times in the past!! But today. I am upset I ordered. It wasn't good at all!!

I’m from the Bronx and had Caribbean food around the globe. Their Oxtails are nothing short of spectacular! I stop by at least twice a weekend, sometimes all three days! Valerie the Owner and host is a beautiful soul that knows how to make you feel welcome! Easily the best in NJ!

Best Oxtail you can get in NJ, maybe in the entire Northeast. I still think they should make it a sit down restaurant though! You cannot go in, only takeout.
