We have been here many many times way before the change! Deltas used to be a great place to go and enjoyed a great meal, music, drinks and ambiance for a great price. Now since the changes made by the restaurant... the place has become our less favorite place to visit. The prices have gone up, there an up charge for live entertainment, the corn bread used to be free now it's $3 a basket of 3 cornbread ONLY and it's dry like the Sahara Desert. It's not the same as before. It was 4 of us and our bill was over $400! The sides are larger but more expensive, my husband ordered fried cat fish and only received one piece of fish 😩 one piece! I'm sorry not worth the money! Won't be going back again.
What a great resaurant. We ordered two appetizers (Oxtail Empanadas, Catfish Fingers) and three sides (Candied Yams, Cornbread Basket, Collard Greens). They were all delicious. We then took a break with a cup of tea, followed by two desserts (Banana Pudding, Sweet Potato Pie). They were both great, but the appetizers and sides portions were so large that we couldn't nearly finish the desserts. The service was fantastic, indulging our lack of urgency - just the opposite. We arrived at 6 PM to have dinner before an 8 PM show at the State Theatre. We took our time before ordering and took breaks between courses. We had such a relaxing time that I looked at my watch and was shocked that it was 7:55 and we had to get and pay the check, walk to the theater, use the restrooms, and get to our seats. This restaurant had been on my list of places to try for a long time. I'm glad I finally tried it. I will be back.
Delta's was a 2 minute walk from our hotel. We had dinner there. We were welcomed in a courteous manner and seated immediately. Our server was friendly and engaging. He placed our food orders and we received our dinner items in a timely manner. Our dinner was tasty and enjoyable.
I had a great time but I didn't like being seated near the kitchen area. Too many servers going back and forth.
Food and service was great. Our first time there and we will return. We tried the southern fried chicken and it was perfection. My husband loved the Mac & Cheese and wished he could have taken leftovers with us, but we were headed to the theater afterward. Even commented this morning that he would have loved to eat it for breakfast!
Over priced for mid tasting brunch. Eggs tasted fake. The food used to be wayyyyyyy better.
This place has gone downhill. Many years ago it was a great experience. Last night was horrible. For starters, there are major safety concerns. Many elderly people fell trying to get to their tables upstairs, and there is a huge cliff drop end to a lower seating that many weren't aware of. The tables upstairs were so tightly packed the waiters accidentally dropped glass cups on nearby customers. The food itself was terrible and in small portion. I ordered the beef rib and half of it was nothing but fat and bone. They charge an entertainment fee, but when we arrived the artist did not perform for an entire hour. And then to top it off, the noise level is so loud upstairs you can't even hear the entertainment you are paying for PER person. They downsized their menu from years ago. Overall this place needs some revisions. If I could get a refund I would.
My husband and I went to Delta's for a birthday dinner with live music. The entire night went so well! The food was great! The service was great! The music was great! We definitely want to come again!
I had a great experience at Delta's! Our server, Leo, provided excellent service—friendly, attentive, and super helpful with menu suggestions. I ordered the catfish with collard greens and mac & cheese, and everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were spot on and tasted like real comfort food. It was a Friday night, and the music added to the whole vibe—great energy without being overwhelming. The atmosphere, food, and service all came together perfectly. Highly recommended!
I had the Soulsizio Wednesdays and it was terrific. Our waiter, Robert, really made the experience top- tier. Ask for his section when you go!

I've visited this restaurant on several occasions and have always left with a positive impression. Saturday evenings host live entertainment and the blues inspired music was entertaining. I was seated on the 2nd floor so the music was not too loud, but I can imagine that it would be hard to hold conversation if you were seated on the 1st floor. Our meals were well presented and tasty. Overall, great experience and would visit again.
Exceptionally delicious, from the hostess, to our waiter, meal, cocktails, the works...!!!
Was excited to have my date night at Delta's as it's been years since I've been. Ambiance was good, our waitress was phenomenal and attentive. I wasn't a fan of the new menu layout as much as I was in the past. It maybe not be new but it's new to me since it's been a while. Some things were delicious and others were just ok. Drinks were delicious with the exception of my date having a chopped glass to drink his beer. I will probably not be back for a while but it's worth a try.
The New Brunswick staple, Delta's, has been a go-to for fantastic soul food for over two decades, but something felt different on this visit. The once-familiar menu has undergone a significant shift, with many beloved dinner entrees and the usual side options no longer available. While it's common for restaurants to introduce seasonal dishes, the complete overhaul of the core offerings—including the main plates and accompanying sides—suggests more than just a seasonal change. The dramatic culinary pivot raises the question of whether there's been a recent change in ownership or management, leaving me to wonder if the soul of Delta's remains the same.
Delta's ambiance is always a vibe...but I think they have a new chef because the grits weren't the same this time around
