Pukhtun Afghan Cuisine

A PSA for anyone looking for authentic Afghani or Pukthun food or for anyone looking for edible food.
1) the place in itself is gross. If you look at the doors, the air conditioner unit etc. you will refuse to eat there.
2) on a freezing day they did not have any heat on. I found a tiny heater in a corner which I turned on by myself after the gentleman simply shrugged and said sorry no heat
3) the food is NOT Afghan or Pukthun. It was greasy rice with large veggies loaded with oil tossed on top. The carrots on the rice were not julliened and were too thick to be served on Kabuli Pullao.
4) the meat was over cooked and basically served as ice hockey pucks. It was literally a choking hazard.

All in all a terrible experience. Not sure how low of a standard does one have to have, to find the food here edible. Come to think of it, the meat (kebabs) may not have been fresh. Maybe it was reheated and so made even tougher.

Got fooled by the name but figured I should warn any other Pathan looking for a taste of home....or anyone with working taste buds and a jaw they want to protect.

The portion of meat to rice was perfect! An order to feed 13 people was MORE than enough, super generous portions. The rice was flavourful and authentic and each type of meat was perfectly cooked. I did make the mistake of eating a pepper haha sooo spicy, but a good counter to the rice with sweet carrots and raisins! I would absolutely order again :)

I’ve tried a lot of different afghan cuisines around in the tri state area and this place is right at the top of the list. Not only is their meat very well marinated , it’s also very tender and juicy. Their portions are also very good. Chicken Adana kebab and chicken biryani are a must have! Lucky to have them right around the corner from where we live.

I moved to New Brunswick 3 years ago and have tried almost all the restaurants, but Pukhtun Afghan Cuisine is a must-visit for me, almost two or three times a week. The food is absolutely delicious with generous portions and bursting with flavor. I particularly enjoy the Kabuli pulao; it's cooked to perfection. The menu offers a wide variety of options to cater to all tastes.

The staff is absolutely amazing, and every time I order food, I get a bonus dessert. They are attentive, friendly, and always go above and beyond to ensure we have a good time every time we go there.

I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious food and good dining experience. Kudos to the chef, the staff, and the management for creating a truly exceptional restaurant!
