Came with a party of 8 upbeat and happy individuals. By the time we left we were all upset, disappointed and vowed never to go back. One single chef on a Saturday night is ridiculous. Saturday is the only day I can spend with my family who I don’t get to see every day. We were celebrating a birthday and we chose this establishment to celebrate in, but it just was not good. My husband ordered a beer and was asked if he wanted it neat or on the rocks? Then was told they don’t have the beer 20 minutes later. We got our apps, they were hot but we didn’t get our food until 1 HOUR later. Even the servers made their own food before our table. I get it, they have to eat too. But our waitress placed their hot plate of food RIGHT NEXT to our table after we’d been waiting for an HOUR. We wanted to get the check and leave but our waitress kept saying our food was next. Not to mention it was EXTREMELY loud in there with the karaoke in the back and dj up front, and if you’re trying to talk to each other while the door to the karaoke room is open, forget about it. I don’t want a cookie cutter, sorry you had a bad experience reply, so don’t bother, STAFF your restaurant and stop being cheap. Making one person work like a dog/chicken with their head cut off on a Saturday IS NOT COOL. It makes the waitresses jobs harder and the WHOLE experience poor for EVERYONE ESPECIALLY when 10 wings and 3 drums costs $29.99!! No. Just no. If you go be prepared to wait forever for everything, THERE’S ONLY ONE CHEF. And if you’re a beer drinker be prepared to be asked if you want ice in it.

The atmosphere is great here. The DJ had a set going when we got there. Our service was attentive and very welcoming. Our server Rye, was so kind and genuine, and we were lucky to have such a helpful person serving us that night. The pork bao buns were outstanding and so were the pickle fries. The drinks were also excellent. It was one of our birthdays and we were happy to celebrate here. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner thoroughly and will be back again. Highly Recommended??

This place was awesome, the food was excellent, the service was top notch, and the atmosphere was unexplainable. Meet up with friends here, sat at the bar, and enjoyed a drink, and the mixologist was amazing. Definitely have to try their drinks. Once our group arrived, we went to a table, and the service was amazing, and the recommendations were spot on. There was a DJ when we visited, and it was great. We had an amazing time. It is such a great, comfortable place to go and hang out with friends. I hope to go back again.
I always enjoy their chicken wings. The music they play is current and mainstream, but it's just too loud on the weekends. I could not hear other people's conversations even though the restaurant space is large. Please tone down the volume so we can enjoy the atmosphere.

I'll start this review by saying I am the house DJ at Roosterspin in New Brunswick on Saturday nights, so I am admittedly biased.That said, I've been meaning to leave my own review for quite some time as a regular customer myself, and I came here to do so when the first thing I saw was the most recent scathing review right before mine—which I'd like to address.I'll add here that I am not affiliated with the restaurant other than my DJ gig, so this is by no means an official response from their team. It's simply a personal take from another patron who just happens to be one of actual humans potentially complained about in the previous post.Though I do not play "typical radio blends" as the person mentioned, and though I cannot say for sure if I was the DJ on the night this person was present based on the review alone, I accept full responsibility on behalf of anyone behind the booth since there is a high chance it could have been me.I can't speak for anyone else, but I will mention here that between myself, the bartenders, and the servers, we all keep a close monitor on noise levels throughout the night and continuously adjust according to the crowds. Sometimes though, there are a lot of people and it does get loud in there—that is simply how popular restaurants work.I'd say for the most part, the majority of the people in there on any given night know what to expect in terms of vibes and enjoy themselves, especially on weekends which are particularly fun. I apologize to the person who had a bad time though.You can't please everyone, but for every person who complains now and then, there are at least 10 other people having a great time.All that said, what I really came here to say is that Roosterspin is awesome. The different events are a great way to connect with other creatives in the area and get yourself out there.All in all, I love Roosterspin and encourage everyone (especially artists) to check this place out. We are still dreaming about this place. Me and my 2 friends were in Edison for a convention visiting from Vegas. It happened to be one of my friends birthday so we decided to go out for some drinks and food. They are vegetarian and I am not. There was options for both of us. Or waitress was Luna and we instantly fell in love with her. Her birthday was the next day (only 30 minutes till midnight when we were there) so we all got to celebrate. The service and the food really was top tier for us. We were sitting there repeating "wow wow oh my god " so tasty. We got the honey butter rice balls, cheese curds, dumplings, salad, pancakes, and a round of drinks. The cheese curds and rice balls were my favorite. I just went here for a date with my girlfriend and we were both disappointed. To start off, the entire restaurant was LOUD!!! They had a live DJ playing your typical radio music blends but the speakers blasting so loud I couldn’t hear my girlfriend sitting across the table. We had to shout. Then comes the service. The waiter took a comedic amount of time to take our order after we requested another minute and a VERY long time to notice we were waiting for the check. Lastly and most importantly the food, it was extremely average considering the absurd prices. For appetizers we order the fried calamari and fried shrimp and were unsatisfied when we received decently flavored but absolutely micro fried shrimp. The breading was good but the actual shrimp meat was the type of shrimp you’d find in a fried rice where it wasn’t made to be the star of the show. A tad bit oily as well. All and all, decent but we would pay around $10 for it, not the $17ish they charged!! Next was the calamari. It came out room temp and somewhat bland. I will say that the meat here was solid and justified unlike the shrimp. It also came with fried pickles although I’m pretty sure they were fried cucumbers as they had no pickled taste. The price was also $17ish and I would’ve paid around $12. I understand that seafood is expensive but the quantity AND quality given here is subpar to most other restaurants charging half the price. For the entrees, the spicy tuna sushi roll was $22 and it still couldn’t compare to the $16 spicy tuna roll down the street at any other sushi restaurant. The fried rice was good but the amount was half of what I expected. We enjoyed it but we’re extremely disappointed in it. To top off our below average daylight robbery of an experience, they charged a gratuity of 20% for a party of 2 which was unannounced. We didn’t drink tonight so I can’t comment on the drinks although they must be good because the restaurant wouldn’t be able to survive strictly off it’s food.TLDR:Decent tasting, low quantity, EXPENSIVE for what it is.Slightly below average serviceUnannounced gratuity of 20%EXTREMELYYYY LOUDno comment on drinks2/5 would not be coming back. The food was delicious, the chicken was crunchy and well flavored, never had a scallion pancake before but it was great. They also had a GF waffle with blueberry butter which was amazingly good for Gluten Free. But even better than the food was the service. Ryan and Luna were just fantastic, so friendly and attentive. We will be definitely going back.

Not much ambience and very low key on a Sunday, but a solid neighborhood joint in New Brunswick. Across the street from the train station, Roosterspin is a convenient spot for a quick bite. The steamed buns with bulgogi were meh - they definitely needed some sauce. The fried chicken sandwich with spicy soy garlic glaze and cilantro-jalapeño slaw was a MUST GET. Sloppy and saucy, just the way it should be. On the sushi roll side, I was surprisingly impressed with the spicy tuna roll. But don’t be fooled, this isn’t your typical STR. With crab meat on top and yam crispies coupled with a proper kick of spice, this was the best STR I’ve had in a while. Solid spot, will be back.
