I came here last year for my birthday and the food was great. I had 20 people come with me and everyone got something different everyone loved everything. The prices were great. Recently I ordered from ubereats and got the salmon Rasta pasta and it was delicious, I’m about to order again right now.

First I want to say do not park at autozone the company that tows arw crooks! Unless when you arw willing to pay $800 do not park there. Now review about the place..it's fairly new and they played afrobeats when I went. I am not a fun of their food it didn't have flavor to me. I had the lamb chops which I feel were over cookes and my friwnd had buffalo wings which were just okay. But overall service is good and the bartenders are attentive. I would come back for the music since I love afrobeats and place wasn't crowded at all.

The girls and I got together to get food and do karaoke. When I arrived I parked on the street around the corner. Parking isn't the best in the area. I walked in and was greeted and found our table. The restaurant is byob, so the supervisor opened my wine. Tina was our server, and she was cool. For my meal, I ordered the shrimp & yellow rice with a side of macaroni and cheese and kale.While we waited for our food, we started to sing karaoke, and it was an absolute blast! When the food came out, it looked delicious. It tasted delicious, too! I really enjoyed every bit of my food, including the kale. The bill was affordable, and gratuity was included. I had a good time!

Dining in requires an 18% service fee, so don’t be surprised like I was- it’s my only knock on an otherwise nice place. Food looked much better than it tasted. There was a pretty good wait (20 -25 mins) considering it was only us and one more table. I ordered turkey wings. I assumed they'd be slow roasted or baked/smothered. They were fried with gravy on top. They seriously lacked flavor. I had to send my two sides of yellow rice and collards back bc they were cold. I'm typing this as I wait for them to be heated up and as the rest of my food gets cold ? The waiter definitely forgot about reheating them. I had to ask for them. My boyfriend ordered catfish, yellow rice and potato salad. It came with one piece of catfish for $22. The best thing was the lemonade. I'm highly disappointed overall. Slow service, flavorless food especially for the price. I'm from South Carolina. I know soul food, this AIN'T it. I will not be returning nor recommending this spot.

Today would’ve been my first time ordering from this establishment. I Called in to place an order for pickup. I was speaking to a guy that answered the phone. When I inquired about the the vegan burger and the sweet potato burger the host couldn’t be so bothered to explain what each burger entailed needless to say as a vegan it’s important to me what ingredients are in the food as I don’t eat certain things. I can only say the customer service it key in running any business and unfortunately they won’t be receiving any of minds. Poor service ?Sorry to inform you the person that answered the phone lied to you! He never said they would check with the kitchen he said “we’re to busy to check with the kitchen”! And maybe what I asked about a sweet potato burger may have been inaccurate however the service was horrible maybe have a better trained person answer your phone lines for the best possible customer retention. ??♀️

I ordered UBER EATS from this place. First time ever and last time ever. This is NOT SOUL FOOD. I am from NC and let me just tell you this food was horrible. The Turkey wings were NOT cooked fully, the ribs were over cooked and banana pudding was instant, plantains were over cooked and the rice was HARD. The only thing I enjoyed was the Mac n Cheese & the potatoes. I would never eat there again.

As of Late the food has been Horrible i have ordered from here over 100 times my boyfriend and I usually ubereats and thats the reason i have given more than 1 try when my food hasn’t been great . Im so disappointed that i wasted my Time to dine in ,the yams tasted like carrots and the mac was so dry NO SEASONING ON ANYTHING, everything has been BLAND. The manager mike was more concerned with strutting and finding the right tune to strutt too instead of getting my drunk server together when i asked her name she said D although i heard her called something else …. Shame on yall !!!!!! Soul food more like Souless

Got a parking spot right in front after 2pm on a FridayWalked in, thought they were closedIt was pretty dark.Employee came over right away. I like when waiters provide their name- he didn’t.Food was delicious- undeniably. I had a lobster roll that was more roll than lobster (like most places) and the glazed veggies were great. My friend had enough to take home- her entree came with two sides. Portions were good for the money.Cons- idk if they are cons bc they are cost effective for the biz I assume, but it doesn’t give $$$. Drinks came in to go cups, bottled water, utensils were plastic (individually wrapped).Definitely a con for me- the loud, rated x music! We were the only diners. Music wasn’t on initially and then he turned it on while we were eating. We were the only 2 diners and we had to yell to hear each other. Maybe they wanted us to leave ? bc we woulda sat and talked had that music not been what it was.

Such a cozy corner in the heart of Newark. The food did not disappoint one bit and everyone there, staff and patrons alike, were so friendly and welcoming. I came for Saturday night karaoke and I will definitely come again.

Food is great but I would recommend they do not line the bottom of delivery food containers with aluminum foil. It's thin and breaks off on food which you can mistakenly swallow ..saran wrap container or place aluminum foil on top instead..aluminum at the bottom also does not allow me to microwave in same dish. Thanks ?
