Canela's is amazing! We got married in September 2025 in Maryland & Tony came all the way out to deliver pasteis de nata to make our special day even better. He was kind, professional, & made it a mission to help celebrate our day. The pasteis were amazing & reminded me of being back in Lisboa. I highly recommend this amazing place with amazing food.

I had a very good egg sandwich here, freshly made and very tasty. Place is small and very friendly.

If you ever catch me all the way up here, just know it’s for one reason only… The Natas. I literally have to come all the way from South Carolina because nothing back home even comes close. Crispy, creamy, warm perfection every single time. Worth the drive, the flight, the miles, whatever it takes. If you know, you know.

Pretty good pastel de nata with a mildly sweet and slightly creamy but dense custard. Crust was a bit chewy.

Perfectly flaky crust and a rich, creamy custard make CANELA my top choice for local pasteis de nata. Thank you!

visited an authentic Portuguese bakery, while waiting for my truck to be loaded. Tiny custard pies are amazing. I also got a piece of Portuguese bread that was just as amazing. The people running the shop are very friendly and helpful. Definitely will return if I'm ever in the area picking up or dropping off goods.

Horrible!!! Being Portuguese this is really a disappointment and disgusting. Gave us burned one and the rest where dry.
Came on Sunday at around 4pm.
Never again!!! You should be ashamed of yourself.

Being from Fall River, Ma , we have the luxury of being surrounded by many Portuguese bakeries and natas.
We visited Newark and decided to stay for a cup of coffee. The natas had just come out of the oven. It was by far the BEST nata I’ve ever had!!!
Excellent customer service and extremely welcoming !
They have the best pastel de natal I have ever had! Fantastic esp the passion fruit. Ana is so welcoming.
I will be coming back!
Best little coffee shop in the Ironbound
Super friendly service & delicious pastries, custard & breads.
History maintained with the Portuguese custard 🍮, and a variety of so much more. Excellence at an affordable price.
