Good food but served lukewarm in a hurry to get the table cleared for other customers on a busy evening. Beware the added fee for credit cards. They charged ours even though it was not a credit card but just a debit card.
My wife and I had fond memories of Casa Vasca when we went there during my graduate school days in the 1990's. So, when we came to NJ in June (from VA), we decided to go back; the food was very good BUT: As we were trying to leave Casa Vasca's parking lot, which is free, the parking attendant, who works for the restaurant, aggressively shouted "No tip, no leave." Unfortunately, this was unpleasant and it tainted the ending to a nice lunch.
This is the best Spanish food in Newark . Small , quiet neighborhood place with outstanding food and professional service. the waiter turning is zero. The same waiters at the restaurant for many years. They got me to try the goat and it was excellent........even though I'm not a fan of goat.
Good attention and delicious food.

best Portuguese in town!
Soup is served to everyone, and it's delicious and served with their wonderful rolls. From there, it was downhill. Our friends had a simple fish dish that had an odd, old tasting flavor, my langostino tails were overcooked, and my partner's steak was tough. Each couple shared a tortufo, and we had cappucico. My partner told the waiter the steak was tough, and he mumbled something about the kitchen and walked away. The check came while i was in the ladies' room, and my husband paid it. I asked for the itemized bill and somehow couldn't get it. Years ago, we went to Casa Vasca's often as I worked in Newark. I remember it having much better food. Of course, we all drank a lot more then. Maybe it was exactly the same!
