Food is good, I have been coming to this restaurant for years. I do however recommend that you ask for the price of drinks prior to ordering especially if it’s not during happy hour. Drinks are way too expensive. The pricese are not listed on the menu One glass of Sangria $19.50. I was caught of guard with that one , imagine my surprise when I received my bill seeing that sangria was $39 for two glasses. Had I known that I would have just drank water and bought my own sangria for less at the local liquor store or went to a different bar. Also; there are a few things on the menu with no prices listed. Just ask for the price before ordering . I feel that the prices for the food such as lamb chops and seafoods are fair, but the drinks. Nope; Sorry not sorry. $19.50 for one glass of sangria is out right ridiculous and unnecessary. Other than the overpriced drink; everything else is good.
This is a good place. The only thing that I don't like is the location. There's no parking and the area is congested. I love that they have a lot of space. I wish I had pictures

The service was not good. It's hard to get good customer service when gratuities are already implemented. They said it's was real crab 🤔meat and it was not for😡 $35 it should have been.

We went here before the Blake Shelton concert. There appears to be a downstairs and upstairs area, not sure if they're the same or not. Anyway, we were seated upstairs. The menu we were presented was different than what's offered in their online menu. When asked, we were told it's the night of an event, and they take certain things off the menu. It appeared to us that burgers and wraps, etc, were taken off. A lot of prices are "market" prices which change daily so you have to ask what the prices are. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The menu clearly states how long appetizers and main dishes take to prepare, no separate checks, 20% tips included, and a 3% charge for credit cards. The ladies split the combo fajitas platter, which they enjoyed, and the amount of food was plentiful. My buddy had the pork chips, which he said were excellent. I had the fish and chips, 4 pieces of fish along with homemade chips, and one other side. Overall a good experience.

Love this place so much. Sangria is amazing as well as the food. Only thing that breaks my heart is they don't carry Super Bock beer.

Came here with my wife for lunch. Food was very mediocre and cost us $90 for two people with no alcohol. The service was really bad. My drink was empty the entire time and the wait staff couldn’t care less.

Have y’all hired any dark-skinned Latinos yet?
It was a very nice place and the food was very good. The only issue is to beware the restaurant includes a 20% gratuity automatically in the final bill. My friend went to pay the check but did not notice this and paid 2 tips. Had to have the uncomfortable conversation of asking for the money back. We all felt the waiter should have confirmed, once he saw the error, that the person intended to leave a double tip. The waiter chose not to say anything and that left a very bad "taste" for us. It is a very nice restaurant but I will probably not go back for that reason.
I've eaten here a dozen times before. The food and service were good enough to keep me coming back. But my last visit was awful!! The bartender was SO RUDE! My friend and I arrived at 4:54pm. Happy Hour started at 5:00pm. We asked the bartender for the Happy Hour menu. He said in a grumpy voice, "Happy Hour doesn't start until 5:00." He avoided any smiling or pleasantries. He behaved as if we were unwelcome.
By 5:15, he had walked past us a few times without taking our order. We wondered if he was ever going to acknowledge us. Finally, a very nice young man greeted us and asked if we were ready to order. I told him that we appreciated his asking, but had decided not to spend our money in a place that ignored us. I should mention, it was a Monday evening. The place was not busy - not at all.
I asked to speak to the manager. More time wasted, as he and co-workers tried to find her.
While waiting, I observed a woman was apparently disputing her bill with the remarkably discourteous bartender. I took some comfort in noticing that he wasn't singling us out with his disrespectful behavior. He clearly was rude and dismissive to her as well.
Meanwhile the nice employee and his co-workers looked high and low for the manager in places where one would expect to find a manager. They finally found her sitting at a table in a remote area of the dining room, unbothered.
I told her that I was completely dissatisfied and disappointed with the bartender. She sat like a couch potato and listened. She asked if we would like to go back to the bar area and place an order. I declined and said I didn't want to spend money where I wasn't appreciated.
She apologized. But her apology seemed insincere. She never bothered to stand up from her lounging position. She too didn't understand that smiling (or having a pleasant demeanor) is customary when working in a restaurant.
I don't know if the restaurant is under new management, or if it was just a bad night. Fortunately for me, there are dozens of restaurants in the greater Newark area that consistently offer excellent customer service and delicious cuisine. I am done with Chateau de Spain. I prefer Fornos and Don Pe Pe's - just to name the 1st two that come to mind - where they know how to treat customers. And parking is much easier.

We came at 9 to grab dinner while in town for an event. We all had the stuffed sole specials. Originally one of our party ordered swordfish but the kitchen ran out. It took them 45 minutes to tell us this so it took over hour to get the food. We were the last people to leave the restaurant. The food was good. But not so good to make up for that really long wait.

This is by far one of the worst restaurants and dining experiences we ve ever had.
We will preface by saying that we were in a large group.
Gambas al ajillo - tasted nothing like it’s supposed to.
saw that and Ordered chicken wrap to be safe … it was fried … too salty… lacking any flavor.. just awful… w side off cold fries.
Asked for ketchup 3 times over 45 min … “give me a minute” was the standard response
Terrible sangria
Terrible service
Not good ambiance upstairs
This is no chateau
And certainly if Spanish food ever lived here… it has died and turned into a salty fast food icier version of itself
Cannot believe the bill for this rubbish

This place is just ok. It used to be GREAT years ago. The menu is extremely overpriced. I would recommend going deeper into Ironbound.

Was asked to pay 25c extra for a plastic bag that I normally get free, after ordering my REGULAR $34 salad. (The garlic sauce leaks through paper bags) To be fair it wasn't one of the 3 people that normally ring me up, but I was turned off, and haven't been back since.
