We ordered some stuff to go here and it was a mixed bag. Pork dumplings were sort of hard on the inside and tasted more like a hot dog than a pork dumpling. The fried shrimp were mostly breading and they'd been flattened out in a way but they just weren't good. They weren't made recently either. They must pre-make them then refry them or they're frozen previously. The garlic chicken was pretty good and the shrimp lo mein was also very good. So I would go back for the noodles but not the fried shrimp or dumplings.

My first time ordering from this establishment. To spend over $44.00 to get food that is extremely salty was quite distressing! The shrimp seemed to be boiled rather than fried in the rice. I had high hopes due to the ratings but was extremely disappointed… now I have to throw the food in the trash! There’s absolutely nothing about this restaurant that I would suggest getting.

I’ve only ordered take out but the food is great (today the broccoli was especially fresh!).
They always get it here quick and hot.
Is worth the price since there’s no other Chinese food that tastes as good in the area.

Chinatown Diner has the highest quality and most delicious Chinese food in the Newark area at an unbeatable price. Located inside the YMCA building in Newark, Chinatown Diner is my favorite go-to spot for Chinese food. The General Tso Chicken is perfectly juicy and tasty. Alternatively, if you’re feeling adventurous and want some real spice, I would also recommend the Pepper Chicken. Thank you Chinatown Diner for always serving the freshest and tastiest Chinese food in Newark to fulfill my appetite.

By the taste and quality of the food, this place should be packed 24/7!!! This is the BEST Chinese food around town, the best in Essex county, the best in northern NJ! No other Chinese store is messing with them.

The food here is really good... not many people know about this Chinese restaurant so there's no long line.. Food was still hot.. I don't go to the chicken store anymore there prices to high.. at least my money is well spent.
