The Firehouse Steak & Cheese was completely tasteless—bland meat, flavorless cheese, and forgettable bread. The sandwich lacked any seasoning or spice, despite its bold name. Overall, a disappointing experience not worth the money.

The sandwich was good but so small! Pro tip: buy your beverages at the store around the corner. It’s cheaper

Sub was amazing, very delicious 😋
Took them only 15min which I really appreciate. They made it exactly how I wanted and I added so much extra to my sandwich lol. Nobody smiled but they seemed so focused to get the food out and take orders, they called my name 3x very loud above all the chatter to get my food to my quickly. The ingredients tasted fresh and the meat was warm. I wish there was napkins available or maybe I just couldn't find them. Nice job guys 6:45pm 9/21/25

Absolutely most disgusting cheesesteak I have ever eaten. Not sliced, not cooked on a grill, put in steamer to make warm, looked and tasted awful. Eat before you go to the airport!

Terrible customer service. With no line it took 10 minutes for the workers to stop standing around talking to each other to take my order and i had to interrupt their conversation to place me order and they had an attitude about it. Didn’t give me a receipt so when my sandwich came up they gave me a hard time because the person that rang me up didn’t do “their” job and give me a receipt. The worst service ever. Don’t waste your time or money. Definitely not worth the headache for a sandwich that wasn’t even all that smh

Mediocre over-priced food. The staff couldn’t remember to put half of the ingredients on the sandwich and stood and talked to each other while customers waited to order. Overall just really slow service and poor comprehension on the staff.

This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had at any food establishment, especially during an already stressful travel delay.
After my flight was delayed over five hours, the airline provided food vouchers. I had already eaten a slice of pizza and decided to try Firehouse Subs for something more filling. Two female employees were behind the counter speaking to each other in Creole. From the moment I arrived, it was clear they were not interested in helping customers, especially those with vouchers.
They made it difficult to process the voucher and called what I assume was a supervisor, named Guerda T. She stated she wouldn’t accept the voucher if the total was over $12—even though I offered to pay the difference. She told me the only way to cover the balance was with cash, not card. Thankfully, I happened to have cash on hand.
I politely asked if they could cut the sandwich into three pieces (something I’ve asked for before at other Firehouse locations without issue). Instead of helping, they pointed at a plastic knife and told me to do it myself. I even apologized for the extra request, which they clearly found inconvenient despite already cutting the sandwich.
Throughout my time in line, they continued speaking only in their native language and didn’t acknowledge or assist the next few customers. It gave the impression that they were intentionally avoiding interaction.
This location needs serious customer service training. I understand working in a busy airport can be exhausting, but basic respect and professionalism should still be a standard. I will be reporting this experience to the airline and Firehouse corporate office as well.

Echoing what everybody else is saying. The portion was SO small and the food was so overpriced. The quality was similar to what you would get out of a gas station fridge.

We braved this spot despite its low reviews, and it exceeded expectations! It was not slow, and the portions were not small. The staff seemed a little annoyed in general, and we couldn't use the ordering kiosk for an item from the drink cabinet, but really there were no issues. I'm not saying you need to choose Newark just to eat here, but I wanted to counter all the negative reviews to say that it was just fine for airport food!

They put melted cheese on sandwiches I tried to ask if they could redo my wife’s sandwich the manager was so rude we threw out both sandwiches in front of her. 40.00 worth. I was so nice to her and she was still rude no accountability as all their customers have to get on a plane
Unlike regular retail Firehouse Subs shops they do NOT offer the gluten-free bread. They didn't have a bowl option to get a sandwich without bread either. Very disappointed.
Food was good and fresh. The wait for the food is unacceptable, esp at a fast pace environment like the airport. Feel sorry for the workers cause they seemed to do all they could. Management needs to have more workers here.
