We recently dined at this beautiful Portuguese restaurant, and it truly is a charming spot with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were absolutely incredible—friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Our appetizer, the octopus, was outstanding—tender, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Unfortunately, the grilled lobster was a disappointment. It was overcooked and even slightly burned, which took away from what could have been an exceptional dish. Overall, the restaurant is wonderful, and with such great service and ambiance, I would gladly return, but I hope they can refine the preparation of their lobster to match the high standard of the rest of their menu.
Showed up at 6PM for my 6PM reservation. Host handed me a "pager" and said I was on the list; this is despite having a reservation. The place was chaotic. People standing around complaining that they have a 5:30PM reservation and still not seated. Waited 15-20 minutes with no updates so we left. If they can't accommodate crowds and honor reservations, they should reevaluate how to run their business...I will not be returning.
The food and the service was great and greatly enjoyed the experience. Overall, the atmosphere was good but was a bit too noisy to have an easy conversation with my date. Also, there was "too much great food!" Unfortunately, the concert venue confiscated our leftovers. Oh well!
Fornos is a Newark landmark. Servers are incredibly attentive and food is always delicious. There are few restaurants in the area who get it as right as they do.
The food was excellent... our server was very attentive and never let our glasses drop below half!
Excellent food, from an extensive menu. Ate there for lunch, however the portions were large! Service was attentive, and we weren't rushed at any time. Very good value for money. Will certainly be eating there again. 😋👍
Amazing grilled octopus, the calamari I very large , I had roasted pig Otis's good with lots of extras , my son had grouper which was very good we did the churros for desert
From start to finish the service was exceptional. We all enjoyed the food and ambiance of the restaurant
Exquisite in every way- highly recommend this hidden gem just steps from the Newark Penn Train Station!
Excellent Steak. Seafood was unfortunately overcooked in my paella. Stuffed mushrooms were wonderful. Less attentive service but not bad. Mixed picture. It was okay overall.

Thank you for making my son's 18th birthday and ours a great one, great food, service and quality, love the salad and churros included and no cc fees is huge!!! Very smart!!! Willing to pay more for food quality and quantity than be charged a line item cost of doing business!! I often exclude establishments that do that ( I understand why they do it ) so thank you! Greg
everything great as always Lobster superb. Garlic shrimp great. Dorado great. Only thing swordfish overcooked after i told them in advance not to overcook. But great place! Toasted Almond ice cream to die for
Fornos is always an excellent spot for a business dinner or with family & friends. Last night was no exception.
Decided to go during Fathers Day to one of my usual fav spots. Was really bad experience. Although we made reservations the check in experience was horrible and chaotic. We had to wait almost an hour for our table after I complained about 10 times to the check in people and was getting nowhere I finally went to the manager and got the table right away. Vallet Parking was also a disaster as only two people working and took 30 min to get our car. Love the restaurant but wouldn't go again on Fathers Day:(
Food was very good to outstanding. Wine list is greet. The service was lacking, slow, Inattentive, did not know the menu well, and unprofessional. For this price point the service is unacceptable. But, will come back for the food.
