The EWR Garden State Dinner manager is an arrogant and very officious person who provokes terrible sentiments from me and my husband. The staff stated to order on line and we explained we wanted to sit down. They ssid take your items to the restaurant. The manager confronted us for sittinfg down at a table ( the restaurant was emtpy) and insulted my husband and then said he would have the TSA throw us (we’re in our seventies) out if the airport!!!! Crazy terrible management. The manager who wore very thick black glasses claimed he would push a button and call the police. He called my husband a terrorist. Shame on your company for hiring unstable people who do not know the first thing about hospitality. Sounds nuts, better believe it.
Horrible. The worst food I ever had in my life.
t's a shame, lack of respect for customers, the people who work at night in the cafeteria, disrespect the airport employees, have you seen the comments 2.6 stars, a shame, can't the owner see that he's losing customers, I'm another one who's going to stop going there just because they disrespect the people who go to my colleague they charged me $3.99 they charged me $7.55 for the same food and I went to say why they charged me like that the answer was if you are not satisfied bring food from home with attitudes that you are not supposed to say to customers It's not their business, a lot of people don't go there anymore and I won't go there either
We had several hours before our departure so we decided to eat at the diner. I had the onion soup and my husband had the fried chicken dinner. My husband found the chicken overcooked but tasty, sweet potato fries and cole slaw were excellent. Our server was very good. The menu stated coffee options of almond milk, cream, low-fat or whole milk but only low fat milk was available.
Work better on customer service
Expectations should not be high when eating at any airport restaurant. Most places are overpriced and the food mediocre. However, Garden State Diner in the Newark Airport was surprisingly pretty good. We ate here twice in 1 week when changing planes to and from our destination. Menu had a variety of options including breakfast choices. I enjoyed my cheeseburger and fries. It didn't cost much more than the burger at Wendys located nearby in the concourse. I think Garden State Diner is your best option if you have to eat at the airport.
Had a great meal - thanks! Garden State Diner has good food and we enjoyed our lunch. The staff was very friendly and well trained. They also did a great job operating as a team. The staffing level was good too. A pleasure to eat here. Our server Aaron did a great job. The restaurant is pleasant and clean - and also had good tunes. The host welcomed us upon our arrival. Good service and good food - we really enjoyed our lunch. Thanks! (and while I didn't partake, the shakes looked great!)
You know the story: airport restaurants are expensive, the food mediocre at best, and the service sucks. So, I was pleasantly surprised by the Garden State Diner. It offers typical Jersey diner fare that was VERY good - and reasonably priced! Despite the Christmas crush, I was able to get a table in a couple of minutes on Dec. 31, 2022. I had French Toast for breakfast with coffee, and it arrived in under ten minutes. It was cooked well, tasted great, and the portion was large - in fact, I couldn’t finish it and I’m a hearty eater. The coffee was pretty good, and refills were free. The people next to me had a traditional breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast and were pleased with it too. The server was pleasant and efficient, and my bill came to under $15. Skip the Mickey D’s and the pricey places - head to the diner!
Fantastic diner. Food was excellent and served quickly. Ordered the philly cheesesteak. Nice portion and reasonably priced for being in an airport.
Nasty dirty food made by people who don’t care

Great service by Miranda our waitress. Tasty food and cleanliness of a high standard.
We were served by Miranda and her service was excellent and with a smile. The menu has lots of choices as you would expect in an American diner and the food was delicious.
Had to wait 30 minutes for a A table bad customer service
On June 4, 2022, my wife and I were waiting on a line to get into the restaurant. We were directed by a staff member to go on another line to order. We waited their, ordered our food, and were then directed to a counter for pick up. When the food arrived we wanted to sit down and eat. A staff member would not let us into the dining room, despite the fact that nearly half the tables were empty. We, and another gentleman, asked to speak to the manager. The manager explained that they were understaffed, and despite their being plenty of seating available. would not rectify the situation. We spent $37 for two mediocre sandwiches and were not allowed to sit and eat them. Stupid and poor customer service.
Bought 4 pastries, $20. All dry and stale and tasteless. Cinnamon roll, chocolate croissant, almond croissant, plain croissant. What a rip off. Terminal C, near United gates 109-115.
