This Monday, we traveled 1:30 with 2 babies, to eat at Hai sushi for the second time, I always recommended it to my friends in NY and CT, several have already been through me, but this last experience, a year after the first time When I went, it was terrible. The blonde woman at the register had terrible service, disrespectful towards any customer, only because after waiting for the 2nd round of the rotation for 45 minutes, we said that there was no need to prepare anymore. We had already asked the waiters twice, and both times they said they would ask the kitchen, 20 minutes each time we asked. We canceled the “preparation” due to the delay, we just ate the fried food and the woman at the cashier wanted us to pay for the full carvery. After an attempt at conversation, because she just wanted to say that “she understood our frustration, but it was served and we would have to pay”, she said that she would give a 10% discount. We spent 3 hours going there and back, we were excited to go there, we came back still hungry, stressed about the situation and we still left $92 in that place. I recently decided to try this restaurant after it had been open for a while, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations.
**First**, the lighting was far too bright, particularly outside, where it was almost blinding. Dimmer lighting would create a more inviting atmosphere. The fact that they sell dimmable bulbs makes this an easy fix.
**Second**, the menu was quite confusing, and communication with the staff was challenging, as many didn’t speak much English. While I can speak some Spanish, it was difficult to follow since they were primarily speaking Brazilian Portuguese.
**Third**, upon being seated, we were presented with two menus, one of which was for an "all you can eat" option. This was unexpected, as the restaurant didn't appear to be a buffet-style establishment. Additionally, we were informed that if we didn’t finish the food from the “all you can eat” menu, we would be charged a fee for any wasted food. While this policy might work in buffets, it felt out of place in a regular dining setting.
**Fourth**, if sushi is on the menu, it's essential to clearly list the ingredients. Almost all of the sushi contained cream cheese, which was not mentioned on the menu. This could pose a problem for customers with lactose intolerance or allergies.
Overall, for a restaurant in the Ironbound area, where the food is typically outstanding, this experience was disappointing. The sushi was particularly underwhelming—possibly the driest I've ever had—and I wouldn’t recommend adding this place to your list.

I called and they asked for another half hour, in a rude way. I chose to cancel the order and will no longer order. Very irresponsible towards customers!
