Very Jewish deli in the atmosphere and menu. Best pastrami. Corned beef knish was just average. Hamantash was excellent. Matzah balls were so good but the broth needed more herbs/seasoning. Love the pickles. The poutine is more like
Disco fries but they were so so good. No skimping on cheese and gravy.

In town from Alabama for the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight MBB games. Walked to Hobbyโ€™s from our hotel for lunch. Holy Moly! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! Everyone who worked in there was so nice. Enjoyed talking to the owner. We shared a sandwich, onion rings, poutine, and a potato knish! Would recommend all of it!

The last time I was here was well over 10 years ago, and I work in the same city, lol. The service, food, and atmosphere are still the same, Fantastic!!! Some things just don't change.

Parking: I recommend visiting during the week before the lunch crowd or weekends for a better parking experience.

Props to Hobby's for making what is by far the best pastrami I have had and for taking allergies seriously as well. The cook came out and reassured me of their cooking and contamination free process. The pastrami wrap was delicious and the atmosphere was great. The staff was all friendly and helpful as well. And the homemade vanilla coke was amazing!

As visitor from Raleigh, NC. The food, the employees, the servers, and the atmosphere was second to none for breakfast and lunch. They did not treat me as a do drop in customer. I am a retired Marine from Newark who niw resides in Raleigh, NC. However, my family is still in Newark. My service animal Remi was treated with the utmost respect. When I come home next month or before, I want my coffee and my sandwich and my atmosphere. Bless you guys.

We loved Hobbyโ€™s. The staff is friendly and the NJ deli/ diner atmosphere comes with real character. They care about the quality of their food and that is obvious. We had soup and the Nico sandwich. It was fantastic! And if youโ€™re a NJ Devils fan, Hobbyโ€™s is the place for you!

Great little deli in downtown Newark. No frills spot with revolving regulars that come back for the good eats and casual staff. Try the chicken sandwich or burger with fries.
