I feel like we were scammed. I initially called to ask if this was all-you-can-eat sushi, and she assured me it was. We arrived and saw a couple of people. I was facing inward, and my partner was facing outward, so I really couldn’t see when they left, but he told me people were leaving, and I thought, Oh wow, that’s really interesting. We still decided to order because we had already gotten our appetizers, but then everything else took 2 1/2 hours to arrive. In total, we got four rows of sushi, and the bill was $136. On top of that, we didn’t receive everything we ordered. I feel like we were overcharged. The bathroom had no hand soap—disgusting. Never again going here.

Kingu Sushi is a pleasant place, with well-prepared sushi and fresh ingredients. The dishes are nicely presented, and the service is calm and attentive. A good option for those who enjoy sushi and want a solid meal.

I had planned to leave this review for a while. I kept giving chances because, overall, I do like the food — but enough is enough.

For the third time, items we ordered from the all-you-can-eat appetizers either never arrived or were “out of stock.” If something is unavailable, that’s fine — just let us know. But not bringing what was ordered happens every single time. Today, the server even held our order list and only brought it after we asked, because I already knew items were missing.

There is also a clear error on the sushi menu stating “2 pieces per order,” when in fact it comes with 8 pieces. We were shocked by the amount, and the server admitted it was a menu mistake and assured us we wouldn’t be charged extra if we couldn’t finish.

Because I had already expressed my frustration about missing items, the server kindly offered a free dessert, which I declined since I was full. At the end, my husband asked — to avoid waste and since it wasn’t our mistake — if we could take the extra sushi. She checked with the manager and came back saying we would have to pay.

To be clear: we did not ask for extra food, and we should not be charged for their menu error. It was apparently easier for them to throw the food away than allow us to take it.

What makes this even more disappointing is that we are loyal customers. Unfortunately, this location in Newark has shown repeated lack of organization and respect for its customers.
I will not be returning.

Walked in at 7 pm and food took 40 minutes to get what we ordered when there was no one else in the restaurant. Found a piece of plastic wrap in the salmon nigiri. Rice was old and hard. We paid a premium price of $60+ each for terribly slow service and extremely subpar sushi (to put it nicely). Place was dingy, not well lit, and was blasting music. Skip this spot.

There is no variety here. It's literally salmon and cream cheese everything. We ordered so many different items (all you can eat $170.00 for 3 of us) out of the 12 only 4 came out. The place is soooo smallll. We were seated by a closet, register and garbage can🤦‍♀️. It took an hour to get the rolls that we did order and as a group left we were moved to a bigger table right next to the door, nothing but cold air. 🥴 For the price we paid I really wish we would have known that the only fish or option was salmon for sushi rolls or anything, at that. I'm so disappointed. 😔 the way they made it seem on Instagram is NOTHING like it is in person. Ohhh we also needed a translator because no one spoke English 🫠🫠
