The food was mediocre - the fried chicken was dry and you can get much better ones at Popeyes. The pasta was also basic. It also took forever to get served even thought there weren’t that many customers.

Love Marcus Samuelsson but this restaurant was atrocious. We had reservations but waited 20 minutes even though 3/4's of the tables were empty. I used the bathroom and found a broken lock on the door, a garbage can overflowing and no toilet paper in the holder. My wife's chicken was OK. The waffle was great but my hamburger was like a hockey puck and the bacon was raw. The french fries were dripping with grease and inedible. The waiter never checked on us. Other than one bite of hamburger and some waffle I ate nothing. The cocktail was fine but the waiter never came back for a refill. Hoping Gorden Ramsey never stops in he would tear it apart!!

This joint has a Bistro kind of vibe. And would be great for grabbing brunch or lunch.Tried a pizza for takeout and loved it.Didn't get to eat inside yet, but looking forward to doing so soon.Would recommend.

I saw some of the negative reviews in advance and was hesitant to show up-- but our friends who were with us and had been here before assured us it would be OK --and it was great-- the menu selection is not large-- 3 of us had grits w/ shrimp and the 4th had the hamburger no complaints -- french fries were great and a side of 4 cheese macaroni also great as was the corn bread appetizer (good for dessert also) -- a lot of alcohol choices- good attentive and swift service by an attractive wait staff-- perfect for pre show meal before nearby NJ Symphony--

So, my fiancée and I decided to go to Marcus B&P tonight before catching a late show at the NJPAC. Thought we'd have a nice dinner but that was too much to ask for.We got there at 7:40 with a reservation and ordered a single entree and appetizer but we didn't see our food till 9:40. Two whole hours, and that’s after begging the almost imaginary wait staff three times to just check on our order. By then, we were so late for the show, we had to grab our food to go. Didn't even get to enjoy it sitting down. The wait staff wasn't helping either, rude doesn't even start to cover it. You'd think we were bothering them by being there. Completely ruined the energy of the evening. We literally didn’t even get water poured into our cups until we got handed the bill. And the food, when we finally got it, was just alright at best. After waiting for ages, I was expecting something mind-blowing or at least decent. Definitely not worth the wait. I’m just happy we decided on a light dinner because if we ordered more we’d still be waiting there now for our food. And to top all of it off, when my fiancée went to use the bathroom she walked in on a dude just peeing in the sink with the door wide open and everything. Gross.Honestly, the whole night was a letdown. We were really looking forward to it because we’ve heard such great things. look elsewhere

On several occasions, just when my mouth is watering for a dish (that's on the menu), they ran out of the item! So the last time I went, I ordered a cheeseburger to play it safe....."SORRY, WE'RE OUT OF CHEESEBURGERS!"WHAT THE FUNK!!!!!!!Otherwise, I like the vibe and the bartenders!

I've been here a few times but this was the first time I can say both the food and service left more to be desired. First thing was the seating. Why is there a table literally in the middle of the restaurant? The entire time we were there people kept bumping into the table, saying excuse me and doing everything they could to squeeze themselves between us and the other two tables to the sides of our seats. My mother was so uncomfortable that normally where we like to sit and enjoy a few cocktails, she was ready to go after one drink. Because it was such an issue, I asked the host if he could move us to a booth but he said no, the booths are supposedly reserved for parties of 4 or more. This is untrue because as I was sitting there, parties of two or more were there and there was a booth that remained empty the entire time we were there. He could've even put us at a table that was not DIRECTLY in the middle of the restaurant but instead he just walked away, completely unconcerned. Second, the chicken and waffles which is my favorite dish from here was bad. The waffle arrived cold with hot, dry chicken. We were both so hungry we just decided to eat but we weren't the only ones with food issues, as another party actually sent it back citing how cold the food was. I'm hoping this was just an off day but this was not a good experience by any means. I highly advise to change the seating arrangements and also, please make pitchers of the halsey hooch, it really is an incredible cocktail.

I couldn’t leave without leaving my review. The food is absolutely delicious, an explosion of flavors and textures. We will definitely come back. Friendly staff, we were welcome by Luis Guaman. The manager, I recommend the oxtail!

A disappointing meal. Feels like they are just sending it out. Dry chicken, mealy fries, over cooked cornbread.Bar out of every beer on the menu and no olives.Mr. Samuelson, you need to check in on this…. The people are nice, but your place is empty on a Friday because they are sending out a mediocre product. My advice to diners is to meet here and take an Uber to Red Rooster in Harlem to see what this food is supposed to beSorry folks, you been warned

I've eaten here for lunch and many times at sister location Red Rooster, and they've always been consistently good. Took the family here on a Saturday night and was disappointed by the hard cornbread (fought to cut with accompanying steak knife), tough chicken (and waffles) and poorly executed burger. Seems like some items sat under the headlamp a bit too long before being brought out. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I may give B&P another chance, but it didn't live up to the Samuelsson reputation.
