Went there for an Easter Sunday dinner. Food was decent, but steak came out under cooked 3 times for myself and my partner. Asked for it to be cooked properly, and there wasn't any change at all. I don't know if the cook was egotistical or upset, but either one is unacceptable. To top it off, we were forced to pay a 20% tip in an empty restaurant. I will never go here again in spite of it being steps from where I live next door. If I want properly prepared steak I'll be heading on the NJT to NYC and get it done right for the same or less prices at a nicer restaurant.

This place is awful. Had dinner there with 3 teenagers prior to a concert and it was terrible. For appetizers we ordered mozzarella sticks and fried calamari. The mozzarella sticks were the only thing the kids liked out of the whole meal. The calamari tasted frozen, rubbery and fishy. We were all afraid to eat it after having one. One of the 15 year olds ordered a chicken Caesar salad and that was the only thing edible after he took the chicken off which had the consistency of chicken that had been cooked in the microwave. Another one of the children had penne vodka which tasted like overcooked pasta in tomato soup. The Medallion “Burger” also had the consistency of being cooked in the microwave. He ordered a cheeseburger with bacon on it and was brought a “medallion burger” which was not a burger, and had no bacon. He asked for the spicy Mayo to not be on the burger because he has severe stomach problems and it was in it and it made him sick. I had the chicken Marsala which also had the consistency of being microwaved and was more like a full chicken breast smothered in brown gravy with mushrooms, not a Marsala sauce. And inedible. Couldn't even get the drink order right. I ordered a dirty martini and they gave me an appletini that I am almost positive was watered down. From beginning to end this place was terrible. Then to top it off they added an additional mandatory tip to the bill that was well over 25%, even though we were only a party of 4. It made for a VERY expensive meal that was completely inedible and I had to Door Dash the kids McDonald after the concert because we were afraid to try room service when we found out it came from there and it was late and not much else available. It makes me wonder if they add the mandatory tip because they know they are so bad they run the risk of their servers not getting tipped and quitting. Even if we stay in that hotel again we will make sure to stay well and clear from Medallion.

Food was ok,nothing special.Service started great but went downhill as it got busier. They automatically added a20% gratuity on a table for 2,unheard of!!On top of that a 6% credit card fee, double current rate. Will never go here again.

Overall a really nice first-time experience. The food was wonderful from beginning to end. Our host and server were both very polite & friendly, however, we did have to wait at least ten minutes for a server to arrive to take our drink orders. Our food came out perfectly. We had to rush to NJPAC to get to our show, however, being just a block away from the venue was a huge help.

My wife and I got the surf and turf, the steak was okay but nothing special. The lobster was dry for me, very dry for my wife, she couldn’t eat it.

This place is a hidden oasis. It is hard to see from the street, because it is inside the Robert Treat Hotel, but it is worth searching for. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are all excellent. I was also surprised how reasonable the pricing was and how generous the portions were. If I lived in Newark instead of California, I would be here all the time. I definitely would recommend this place!

I am being generous with the two stars. The food was mediocre at best. The fried calamari probably came out of a bag. The same as the vegetables that came with my meal. Very underwhelmed. I'm not sure how “ fresh” any of it was. When the bill came, there was a suggested gratuity. It apparently was not a suggestion as my server told me, “ it's already on the bill so you have to pay it”. To make matters worse and this is only a principal, they stiffed me on my change by not giving me my exact change. Never again.

Our dining experience was not very good overall. The food was just ok but the service left much to be desired. My husband ordered a salad which he never received. I asked if there would be bread with the pasta and the server said yes. She then brought out a bowl of potato chips. We were so confused. We also had a very hard time getting refills of our drinks. I do not think we will return.

When we arrived the host tried to put us in a small table. I said I prefer a booth for 4. He stated they were all reserved and I told him I made a reservation weeks ago. He then sat us where I preferred. Other than that the waitress was extremely nice and helpful and the food was good.

Automatically demanding a 20% tip (or indeed ANY tip which should be at the patron's discretion) should be an immediate "red flag"!
