I stop in any time I'm in Newark. They carry the thick Portuguese style toast that I've only ever had on my many trips to Portugal. Coffee is great. They also have a variety of Portuguese pastries.

I love this place! If you like buffets, like I do, the food here is very fresh….they do a lot of business.
Always good salads, assorted meats, Portuguese dishes. The best value for the money around.
That’s why so many older locals are regulars here!

The place to have a typical Portuguese breakfast or an American breakfast before heading to the center of New York City, stop by here to eat breakfast and feel at home (Portugal). They have been more generous with the amount of cheese/ham they put on croissants ? or sandwiches ?. Difficult to get a table as they are almost all occupied by people who consume little or nothing, they should create a rule so that they don't sit for so long without consuming, thus allowing other customers to have a table to consume their food. I miss the service provided by Portuguese people on this typically Portuguese street.

My normal spot for pão de água and pão de queijo was closed for vacation so I gave Nova Alianca a shot. It was early afternoon and they didn't have much left so I was only able to buy one of each. They were both pretty good but not as good as my first choice bakery on Ferry Street.

This was a very pleasant experience. The staff was courteous and attentive, making sure every customer was served. Although the bakery was a bit crowed, it wasn't anything too bad. The food was good as well. The sandwich bread was soft and lightly toasted while the cheese was melty and bacon just the right amount of crispy. You also have some choice on if you would like certain condiments on your sandwich as the staff makes sure to ask. The food was reasonably priced for what you get. I also liked that they had a tip jar which made it feel like an actual tip and not something you were forced into giving. Overall a great place to stop by and get something to eat.

Enjoyed the lunch buffet. Food was delicious. Very reasonably priced, charged 9.00 per lb. Was told by the coworkers who I ate with there is something different every day. Will definitely go back!

Traditional.Portuguese bakery/deli.. I always get my daughter's breakfast and lunch for school here. The scrambled eggs and cheese on a Portuguese toasted roll is to die for. And the service is always friendly and fast.
