Had lunch here early Dec. Very nice people and tasty food. Comfortable interior. Clean restroom - always a must and a good sign. Had some empaneda's, ham soup, roasted chicken. Delicious. I would recommend this cozy spot.

I decided I wanted some Puerto Rican food before heading back to Maryland after attending a concert at Prudential Center. Looked online and found Taino's Kitchen. The food and ambiance were great. I tried papas rellenas, alcapurias, and pastelillos or empanadas. Great flavor and their mayoketchup was delicious. Me and my gf had the pernil with arroz con gandules. The pernil was very good alone. I do like adding additional sauces so I def added the pique and mayo ketchup to sauce it up some. We also ended up drinking Guanabana which was so good. For desert we ordered tres leches and the Flan de coco which were amazing. We decided to get 10 empanadas de carne for the road. Everything was great. Staff was friendly. If I am in the NJ, I will be coming back.

This is my third time visiting Taino's kitchen and I have to say it's a pretty decent Puerto Rican Restaurant. The ambience of the Restaurant makes you feel like you're back home in Puerto Rico. And the staff's hospitality just speaks to the friendliness that we Puerto Ricans have naturally. The food was tasty and the portion sizes were good and quite filling. The waitresses are amazing and checked in with us periodically during our visit. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone, because it's delivers both excellent service and pretty decent food. Check it out and see for yourself what Taino's kitchen has to offer. Enjoy!

I was there today for the first time for lunch and ordered few different dishes; garlic shrimp, pernil , sancocho, grilled fish, relleno de papa. Everything was good BUT the service was horrible. Im sorry but our waitress had an attitude and looked like she hated her job. I will never go back for that alone. If im spending over $100 to sit somewhere and eat, the service needs to be at par. There are plenty of authentic restaurants in that area to choose from.

Very disappointed! I ordered pernil with white rice and beans, 2 cheese empanadas and 4 alcapurrias. The pernil lacked flavor and the pieces they gave me were very dry. The beans were quite watery and lacked flavor as well. Never in all of my days have I ever had an empanada with American cheese in it. I was so disappointed in these. I want to ask for a refund, but am afraid they will be difficult about it.The alcapurrias are ok. The Taino kitchen on Halsey has better. This was a waste of money and unfortunately I won't order again.

I was craving some authentic Puerto Rican food and I found this place online. I read some of the reviews and was a little skeptical but still decided to go. I ate the camarones en salsa criolla with white rice and beans and my partner had the mofongo with pernil. We also got a beef empanada, a yuca alcapurria and a banana one. The food was delicious. If you want some good Puerto Rican food you will not be disappointed. The staff was very friendly and the place was clean. There was no parking lot so we parked on the street.

Waited 30 minutes for alcappurias with RAW ground beef inside. I can't believe it. The service and quality of this is not a good representation of PR people. PR people have hospitality and smile and care about eachother. Serving raw meat is dangerous. Will not be coming back, not because of the meal but the lady with the braids who couldn't smile, say thank you or your welcome. Totally rude and cold !

I went here for lunch and let's just say that after eating, I needed a nap. The food was that filling and delicious. I got the beef stew since that is the lunch specialty on Tuesdays. The beef was sooooo tender and well seasoned. The beans and rice were also really good and fresh. The sweet plantains were like candy. Omg! I washed it all down with their homemade passion fruit juice which was fruity and refreshing. *chefs kiss*Something about this establishment made me feel like I was in San Juan. But I guess that's the idea of Taino's. The staff was super lovely and hospitable. Any establishment with great food and lovely staff will get my support! 5/5

I have given Taino's a 5 star before but this time 2023 only 3 stars. I was disappointed this time around. Maybe the chef is not the same but the food tasted different. The Puerto Rican flavors were not there. We asked for bistec encebollado white rice and red beans. The rice was good but the beans were watery no tomato sauce plus when I asked for red beans I meant the small red beans not those red long ones. They should let you know. The steak was pale and no taste with lots of fat. I also ordered two mofongos with salsa criolla. They were delicious. Before leaving I asked the female if the tres leches and the flan were fresh. She said yes. I took two and one. A big mistake the cakes were old and dry . I don't know if they took the best chef to their new location at Halsey street but I was disappointed. I spent over $65. Plus the desert. I love the owner and it is not personal.

Food was amazing, the Puerto Rican artwork made you feel that you were in Puerto Rico (beautiful). Service was good, but restaurant gets too packed and the wait is pretty long.I will definitely go again!
