While I usually enjoy the food, today I just had a bad experience. While on my way home downtown Newark I stopped to get a chicken platter. I stepped into the store and waited for 5 min while the workers behind the counter continued to talk using profanity while ignoring me. I abruptly left and took my business next door to Quobe Mexican eats where I was served immediately. .Tuesday Oct 29 8:15pm
I’ve always been a fan of the Halal Guys. That being said they tried to charge me a dollar for a ketchup sized packet of their hot sauce. Come on Mannnnnn are you really that hard up for cash!

Ordered delivery from here 2 times this week. Both times all I got was a bowl of rice. I ordered Chicken rice platter both times and I have yet to see even a speck of chicken in my bowls of rice. I don’t get how you can forget the chicken in a CHICKEN platter??? Not once, but twice?!!!!
The managers need to watch the workers and make sure they know what they’re doing because nobody is ordering just a bowl of rice for almost $20.

My only issue with this restaurant is that currently on the UBER eats app, lettuce and tomato are labeled under Extra-Add ons as Extra Lettuce and Extra Tomato, if you do not select these extra options they will not give you it at all (or at least, I didn’t get any). I think this is confusing for the customer as these ingredients are a core part of the platter and not an extra add-on. Also, why is adding white sauce an additional fee? It should be free. Thankfully I bought an “extra” packet, but I thought my platter would already come with some on it, as it usually does. I am not sure if this was a mistake on whoever made my food or if that is just how the options are set up on the app, but if so I think that this should be fixed.
For some reason , the food was never hot, bread they don't warm it up... i have been here couple of times its disappointing .. last night I was there again same thing.. but the people working there never agree.. the manager was so stubborn and giving me so reason to defend them.. i have been eating in halal guys different places in the last 21 years..this is the place which don't have hot food..

THE COMBO PLATE THE BEST!!!! love coming in and seeing the managers smiling face he always tells the line to make sure the food is fresh and that doesn’t go unnoticed by far the best halal guys in the area! I always ask for less rice and extra salad and they never disappoint. At other places the rice can be hard and the meat dry here it’s always fresh and delicious! The white sauce like always takes the cake and the staff always has food recommendations to try the falafel and mint lemonade is underrated!! Best food in the area and the value!

Disappointing. Usually good but i paid $25 delivery for a double protein platter only for them to forget the pita bread. Something so simple

This place’s food made my stomach hurt, lol. I’d rather go to Halal Boyz 7 mins away???. They seem to be a lot more humble and their meals are at least $4 cheaper for more??

Entered this establishment with the impression that emotional support dogs, and pets were allowed to be by their pet owners. Me and a Family member unfortunately had a very bad experience with one of the employees who worked here. He did not, want to serve us because he suggested that our emotional support dog waits outside. We spent money here at this establishment on several occasions and had the same dog with us right inside the store. I felt as if he was stereotyping us as poor pet owners with a wild dog that would attack other customers. Without considering the fact that the dog was an emotional support husky who assist us with mental care and love ❤️! And who always needs to be by our side. He did not, want to serve us at first because of that. It took him over 10 minutes just to explain that he needed to see a license of our pet being an emotional support pet. According to the LAW pet owners who have emotional support animals are allowed to travel, enter public trains, planes, buses, and transportation vehicles with their pet owners. I strongly felt like this employee gave us a very, very hard time and did not, want to serve us because of his personal stereotypes against pets. Not too mention that we were two young Black men that he kept trying to tell calm down when we were not, even loud or, showing any signs of harm and/or physical aggression. More consideration needs to be taken with customers who enter this establishment just to buy something to eat. We should not, be judged because of the color of our skin, and/or the knowledge that we possess on emotional support animals.
